Breakfast Buffet
All-you-can-eat Sunday breakfast buffet will be served by the Galestown Ruritan Club on Jan. 25, from 7-10 a.m. at the Galestown (Md.) Community Hall. Cost is $6 for adults, $4 children ages 6-12.

MLK Celebration
Western Sussex Martin Luther King Community Day of Celebration, Sunday, Jan. 18, at the Seaford Golf & Country Club, and Monday, Jan. 19, at the Western Sussex Boys & Girls Club. Banquet and presentations on Sunday (tickets are $20) and events for youth on Monday. Phone 629-1422.

KSI Toy Show
The 13th annual Blue Hen Farm Toy and Truck Show, Saturday, Jan. 24, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m., at Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington. Admission is $3, children 12 and under will be admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult. The toy show features door prizes, a concession stand, and raffles in addition to displays of farm toys, trucks and agricultural related items. Proceeds go to Kent-Sussex Industries, Inc. Railroad Open House
The Delmarva Model Railroad Club will have its 18th annual holiday open house on Jan. 17-18. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. There is no admission charge. The Delmarva Model Railroad Club is located at 103 E. State St., Camelot Hall Second Floor, in Delmar, Del. This is one of the largest permanent model railroad displays on the Delmarva Peninsula with more than 5,000-square-feet of operating model railroads in N, HO, O (scale), O (hi-rail) and Standard Gauges plus N-trak, module layouts. Ham/Turkey Shoot
Ellendale Ruritan will hold their Ham/Turkey Shoot at the Ellendale V.F.W., Road 607 (1/2 mile south of Rt. 113 and 16 intersection), at 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 24. Refreshments will be available for sale. For possible cancellation call 422-2948.

Equine Council Plans

The Seaford Chapter of the AARP-Widowed Persons Service meets Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 12:30 p.m., at the Golden Corral. The guest speaker will be Sen. Robert Venables. All widowed persons of all ages are invited to attend.

Winter Gala on schedule Jan. 24
Don’t wait until the last minute to purchase tickets to the Auxiliary of Nanticoke Health Service’s Winter Gala “Champagne and Roses.” Presented by the Mellon Financial Corporation, the Winter Gala will be held on Jan. 24, at the Seaford Golf and Country Club. The evening offers a dinner and dancing to the sounds of “Encore.” Dance co-chairs Patricia Olekszyk and Sherry Michalik and the committee are utilizing the creative talents of Nancy Price and Yohko Doran to head up the decorations committee. Proceeds from the evening will be part of the Auxiliary’s annual donation to Nanticoke Health Services.

The CHEERful Notes Glee Club, a singing group comprised of local senior citizens, has announced its winter concert schedule. All concerts are free and open to the public. All ages are encouraged to attend.

Driver Safety Training
An AARP Driver Safety Course for people 50 and over will be given from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 2 and 3, at the Methodist Manor House, 1001 Middleford Road, Seaford. The two-day program, sponsored by the American Association for Retired Persons, stresses how older drivers may operate vehicles safely. Upon completion of the program, participants receive a certificate entitling them to a reduction in their auto insurance. A 15 percent reduction is given to anyone repeating the program within three years. For information and registration, call 629-8081. The cost is $10 per person.
