St. Stephen’s to serve spaghetti
St. Stephen’s Church, 103 E. State St., Delmar, will hold a spaghetti dinner in its Camelot Hall on Saturday, Jan. 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. Cost for dinners are: adults and carryouts, $6.50; ages 6 to 12, $3; under 6, free. Call 846-9501 for more information.

The Council of Ministries at St. Stephen’s Church, Delmar, will hold a spaghetti dinner Saturday, Jan. 25, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the church’s Camelot Hall, State Street, Delmar, Del. Tickets are $6.50 for adults and carryouts; $3 for ages 6 to 12, and free for 5 and under.

Welcome back, Kitty and Allen Larason. The Larasons recently returned from visiting their son, David, and his family in Elkton, Md. They enjoyed the Christmas holidays with them and then a family reunion held just after the New Year.

Miss Pam will have a special program, “Broadwater Puppets and Balloons,” at the Delmar Library Thursday, Jan. 16, 6:30 p.m. All ages are welcome.

Delmar Library will be closed Thursday and Friday, Jan. 23 and Jan. 24, for the staff to be trained on the new computer system. On these days, you may drop your books in the book slot. The library will be open regular hours Monday through Wednesday and Saturday of that week. A special program of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has donated Gateway computers to the library. This foundation is donating computers for the general public, especially children for schools and libraries. The goal of the foundation is to give public accessibility to computer resources to those communities whose access to technology is limited.
Food Lion has a program called “Food Lion Share.” This program is set up for nonprofit organizations, including our local library. When your MVP card is swiped, a percentage of your purchases will go to a special account set up for the Delmar Library. Go to the library to fill out your form. They will help you fill the form out and will register you with the store. Each quarter the library will receive a check from Food Lion to help buy library materials.

Congratulations to John McDonnell on being selected by the Delmar Lions Club as the 2002 Lion of the Year.

Nathalie Truitt (Bunky Truitt’s mother) has returned home from the hospital. Nathalie, we send our prayers for a speedy recovery.

We send our get-well wishes and a speedy recovery to Eleanor Lee West who is recuperating from a broken leg.
