Writer to speak at Seaford
Washington Post education writer Jay Mathews will share his experiences in making high school advanced placement classes available to all students during an afternoon presentation at Seaford High School on Monday, Jan. 27. Mathews has visited high schools across the United States, has written several books regarding the need to make rigorous academic opportunities available for all students and has now begun writing about college admission practices. His remarks will be made to the faculties of Seaford High School and Middle School in the SHS Ken Madden auditorium. The program will begin at 3 p.m. The public is invited. Admission is free.

Miss and Little Miss
Seaford Lioness is sponsoring Miss Seaford and Little Miss Seaford on March 7, at Seaford High School Auditorium. “Miss” is open to all freshmen, sophomore and juniors living in the Seaford School District. “Little Miss” is open to all kindergarten, and first graders living in the Seaford School District. Deadline for applications is Feb. 19.

Blue Mountain Ski Trip
The Seaford Department of Parks and Recreation is planning a Ski Trip to Blue Mountain, Sunday, Feb. 2. Call 629-6809.

Lions Basket Bingo
The Seaford Lions Club will hold a Longaberger Basket Bingo on Thursday, Jan. 23, starting at 7 p.m. at the V.F.W., located on Middleford Road, Seaford. The evening will consist of 20 games and will feature several baskets including the small and large Sweetheart combos, Small Storage Solutions, Saffron Booking, and several regular line baskets as prizes. NLL Basket Raffle
The Nanticoke Little League is sponsoring a Longaberger Basket Raffle. One $5 ticket buys 28 chances to win a new Longaberger Basket. Baskets include the small and large Sweetheart baskets, Easter basket combos, Tarragon Booking basket and several others. The raffle will be held Feb. 1-28. If the number on your ticket matches the Delaware Lottery Play 3 evening drawing number, you win a basket. Tickets are now on sale. Library closing dates
The Seaford District Library will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 30, and Friday, Jan. 31, for computer training. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has donated four new computers.

Acorn Club meeting
The G.F.W.C. Acorn Club of Seaford will meet today, Jan. 23, at the Western Sussex Boys & Girls Club at 6:30 p.m. Program: International Affairs and a business meeting.

Babies and Toddlers
The “Parents As Teachers” program invites parents and their children from birth to age three to a free “Stay and Play Center” at Seaford Dept. of Parks & Recreation (SDPR) on Virginia Avenue. Sessions are on Mondays from 10:30 a.m. to noon. (Closed on school holidays.)
