Mardi Gras for Hope House
The theme is “Mardi Gras” at the Laurel Fire Hall, 8 p.m.-midnight, on Saturday, March 6. Price is $30 per person. Music by “The Honeycombs,” with all types of dancing. Finger food buffet, complimentary sodas, entertainment, silent auction, and much more. A cash bar. Singles are welcome; costumes are optional. Tickets will be available locally at Bev’s Spec’s, County Bank or Ambassador Travel. All proceeds will be used to support Hope House in Laurel.

Basket Bingo for Swim Team
Western Sussex Boys & Girls Club Barracudas swim team basket bingo featuring Longaberger baskets, Thursday, March 4, at 7 p.m. at the Western Sussex Club, 310 Virginia Ave., Seaford. There will be 20 games with prizes as well as two raffles featuring a canister set and the woven panel chest. There will also be a drawing for a wrought iron corner stand with shelves. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Additional door prizes and refreshments will be available. Sussex Tech Class of 2005
The Roadhouse Steak Joint on Rt. 1 will host a fund raiser for the Class of 2005 at Sussex Technical High School on Wednesday, Feb. 11, from 6-8 p.m. The Roadhouse will donate 10 percent of the day’s sales to the Class of 2005. There will also be an opportunity to purchase tickets for a “Sweethearts’ Basket of Goodies” to be given away by the Class of 2005.

Father-Daughter Dance
Third annual Father/Father Figure and Daughter Dance, Friday, Feb. 6, 7-10 p.m., Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church on High Street in downtown Seaford. The church’s Fellowship Hall will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland with a DJ, decorations, and refreshments. Fathers and father figures and daughters of all ages are invited.Tickets are $5 per person, but only 150 will be sold. Each family is asked to bring an appetizer or baked good to share. Pictures will be available at an extra charge. Tickets went on sale Jan. 1, and are available from David and Becky Genshaw, 629-9014; the Mt. Olivet Church Office, 629-4458; or any committee member.

Symphony at Del Tech
“Bring a Friend, Sweetheart or Spouse” Saturday, Feb. 7, special rate for the winter concert presented by the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, 7:30 p.m., at Delaware Technical & Community College, Rt. 18, Georgetown. AARP Meeting Feb. 12
AARP Seaford Area Chapter 1084 meeting Thursday, Feb. 12, at the Methodist Manor House Fellowship Hall, 1001 Middleford Road, Seaford, 1:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Ruth Ellen Miller of the Seaford Museum. Guests are welcome. Call 875-5086 for information.
Widowed Persons Meeting
The Seaford Chapter of the AARP-Widowed Persons Service will have its next meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 12:30 p.m. at the Golden Corral. The planned guest speaker will be “The Mystery Guest” of WBOC. All widowed persons of all ages are invited to attend.

Equine Council Meeting

Democratic Caucus Feb. 18
40th District Democrat Caucus will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 7 p.m. at the Laurel American Legion Post #19. Delegates to the State and National Conventions will be voted upon at this meeting. (State party headquarters received all applications for delegates by Jan. 26.)

AARP Luau Picnic
AARP Seaford Area Chapter 1084 members are reminded to sign up early to get seating for the Spring “Luau” Picnic on March 25 beginning at noon at the Nanticoke Yacht Club. Bring a covered dish. Fried chicken, rolls, beverages and entertainment will be provided by the hospitality team.

Parks and Rec Conference
The 25th annual Delaware Recreation and Park Society (DRPS) state conference will be held March 3, and 4, at the Embassy Suites in Newark. Featured presenters include: “Remember the Titans,” coach Bill Yoast. For additional information, call 302-227-2800.

Del Tech holds ‘Suede’ concert March 13
Suede, a pop, jazz, blues singer will perform a benefit concert Saturday, March 13, at Delaware Technical & Community College. Suede with David Pearl and Max Murray will be available prior to the concert at a VIP reception. The reception begins at 7 p.m. in Room 344 A&B in the Arts and Science Center and the concert follows at 8 p.m. in the theater.
