Greenwing Day set aside to enjoy the environment
The Delaware State Chapter of Ducks Unlimited will sponsor a special event for youth on Saturday, March 27, at Owens Station located on Hunter’s Cove Road in Greenwood, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It will be an exciting day full of conservation, public safety and education for youth ages 6 to 16. Featured attractions will include the judging of the 10th annual Junior Duck Stamp, archery, air rifle, decoy carving, retriever dog demonstrations featuring “Drake the DU Dog” from Memphis, Tenn., duck banding, construction of wood duck nesting boxes, boating safety, Delaware Forestry and clay target shooting. Sergeant Dan and the Delaware State Police will be on hand and fingerprinting will be available to participating youth. Ducks Unlimited’s mission since they started in 1937 has been to conserve, restore and manage wetlands and associated habitat for North America’s waterfowl. These habitats also benefit other wildlife and people too. This event is free and includes a one-year Greenwing membership, t-shirt and lunch. Pre-Registration is required.   CHEER Dinner on Feb. 18
Greenwood CHEER beef-n-dumpling dinner, Wednesday Feb. 18, from 4-7 p.m. $4 in advance and $5 at the door and includes iced tea and salad. Proceeds benefit Project Income for Homebound and Congregate Meal Programs. Call Shelley Strain at 349-5237.

Ruritan host Ham/Turkey Shoot Feb. 21
Ellendale Ruritan will hold their Ham/Turkey Shoot at the Ellendale V.F.W., Road 607 (1/2 mile south of Rt. 113 and 16 intersection), at 11:30 a.m. each month. This month it will be held Feb. 21. Refreshments will be available for sale. For possible cancellation call 422-2948.
