Nanticoke Memorial will hold cholesterol screenings
Nanticoke Memorial Hospital will be offering cholesterol screenings on Wednesday, February 20, and Thursday, February 28, from 7:30 - 10:00 a.m. in the Community Room of the hospital. Participants will have the opportunity to select from two types of blood tests. One option is a Total Cholesterol test, which is a non-fasting blood test that will read the total cholesterol level. The cost is $5. The second option is a Lipid Profile test, which requires a 12-hour fasting and reads the HDL and LDL blood levels. Cost for the Lipid Profile is $15. In addition to the cholesterol screening FREE blood pressure checks will be offered. Several display tables will be available this year, providing information on nutrition, cardiac rehabilitation and stop smoking program. Employees representing laboratory services, Corporate Education and Cardiac Rehabilitation will assist with the screenings. Results from the cholesterol screening will be mailed approximately two weeks after the test is performed. For additional information, call 629-6611 extension 2404.
Nanticoke planning for ‘April in America’ dinner-auction
While the weather has been playing games with southern Delaware residents since November, members of the Nanticoke Health Services Auxiliary have been hard at work planning the annual spring dinner/auction. Under the co-chairmanship of Nancy Brown and Nancy Cook, plans have been formulated for a gala dinner/auction, “April in America!”, to be held April 27, at the Seaford Golf and Country Club, beginning at 6 p.m. Working with Nancy Brown and Nancy Cook, are Don Moore, auctioneer; Lois and Don Ewing, tickets; Dot Dixon, menu; Lorraine Miller, decorations; Barbara Hancock, Chinese auction; Eleanor Bennett, treasurer; Virginia “Mike” Barton, publicity; Pat Olekszyck, president; and Joe Kugler, Sharon Mears, Maria Heyssel, Joan Policastro, Sandy Connell, Charlotte Cannon, Reneé Morris, Jean Baldwin, Joyce Mackler, Judi Thoroughgood, Dennis O’Neal and Tom Brown. All proceeds from the dinner/auction are included in the Auxiliary annual gift to Nanticoke Hospital. At the January meeting, the Auxiliary made a five-year pledge to the new building campaign in the amount of $250,000. Tickets may be obtained at $50 per person from any committee member or by calling Volunteer Services, 629-6611. Advance purchase is required and a limited number of tickets are available.
