New Zion celebrates joy
New Zion United Methodist Church holds its Joy Night the second and fourth Friday of every month, at 7 p.m. This month’s second service will be Feb. 28. All singers, musicians, praise dancers, Christian poets, mime groups and individuals are welcome. The church is at 428 West 6th St., Laurel. For details, call the Rev. Concert to benefit Brown
An evening of southern gospel music featuring Ole Time Gospel Singers Pam Rush, Redeemed, the Robinson Family and Brittany Swift will be Saturday, March 15, at 6 p.m. at Christ Evangelist Church, Bethel Road, just west of US 13, Laurel. An offering collected by Laurel firemen will benefit Laurel fireman Gerald Brown, who is suffering from leukemia.

For sale: sandwiches galore
Church of God of Prophecy, Route 13 North of Delmar, will hold a sandwich sale Saturday, March 1, beginning at 9 a.m. Sandwiches will include oyster, soft-shelled crab and chicken salad. There will also be cheese subs, baked goods, soups, chili, hamburgers and hot dogs.

St Luke’s to start care team
A pastoral care team is being organized at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Seaford. Training for spiritual caregivers will begin during the Lenten season. This ministry will serve in conjunction with the rector, the Rev. Jeanne Wise Kirby, and will be a supportive ministry to those experiencing illness, incapacitation, bereavement, or trials of everyday life. An informational meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, at St. Luke’s Parish House, King and North streets, Seaford.

Indoor flea market planned
St. John’s United Methodist Church, will hold an indoor flea market Saturday, March 22, 7 a.m. to noon. Vendors are welcome. For details, call 628-1131. The church is on Pine Street, Seaford.

Bethany to hold hymn sing
A hymn sing will be held at Bethany Church, Lowes Crossroads, between Laurel and Millsboro, Saturday, March 1, at 7 p.m. Performers will include Soloist Night with Donna Brown, John O’Day, Sandy LeCates, Billy O’Day and Bill Dorey. For more information call Sandy LeCates at 854-9490 or e-mail
Gospel concert planned
St. George’s United Methodist Church will hold a gospel concert Sunday, March 2, 7 p.m. The featured guests are Bruce Willey and Band of Brothers and Sister.

Dosses to perform in Laurel
Laurel Baptist Church, US 13, 1.5 miles south of Laurel on the right-hand side, will present the Dosses in concert on Sunday, March 2, at 7 p.m., The Dosses in concert. Admission is free. Refreshments and a nursery will be provided. The church hold a revival Sunday, March 9, through Wednesday, March 12, at 7 p.m. nightly. The Rev. Scott Marsh, a graduate of DeVry Institute and a student at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, will be the preacher. A nursery will be provided nightly. Refreshments will be served Wednesday, March 12, following the service.

Reynolds to deliver sermon
Dr. Brooks E. Reynolds, former pastor, will return to Christ United Methodist Church in Laurel to preach the 11 a.m. service Sunday morning, March 2. Pastor Fred Duncan will attend seminars in Montgomery, Ala., that weekend.

Pancake supper planned
Centenary United Methodist Church, Market and Poplar streets, Laurel, will hold a Shrove Tuesday pancake supper on Tuesday, March 4, 5 to 7 p.m., including pancakes, sausage and ham. Cost is $5 per person, $3 for children 3 to 12, free for children under 3.

Church to serve pancakes
St. Luke’s Episcopal Church will hold a Shrove Tuesday all-you-can-eat pancake supper Tuesday, March 4, 6 to 7 :30 p.m., at the parish house, North and King streets, Seaford. The Sunday school youth will serve the dinner; proceeds from the offering will help church school students attend the Acquire the Fire conference which will be held in Baltimore in April. St. Luke’s will observe Ash Wednesday, March 5, with services of Holy Eucharist with Imposition of Ashes at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the church, Front Street, Seaford. Holy Eucharist with Imposition of Ashes will also be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Manor House on Middleford Road, in Seaford. The Rev. Jeanne Wise Kirby, rector of St. Luke’s, will officiate.

World Day of Prayer set
Concord Methodist Church will participate in World Day of Prayer Friday, March 7, with a service at 10 a.m. This year’s theme is “Holy Spirit, Fill Us.” Child care will be provided and a luncheon will follow the service. For details call Jean Pianka at 875-1367 or Pat Whaley at 629-7706.

St. John’s to serve roast beef
St. John’s United Methodist Church, Pine Street, Seaford, will hold a roast beef dinner Saturday, March 15, 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Tickets are $8 for adults, $4 for children under 12.
