Free Tax Assistance
AARP-Tax Aide is offering free tax counseling and preparation through April 11 for senior and low income taxpayers. AARP-Tax Aide volunteers, trained in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service, will assist with personal tax returns at the following sites:

Laurel Lions host Variety Show, March 20-21-22
The Laurel Lions Club annual Variety Show, “American Bandstand,” will be held on March 20, 21, and 22, at 7:30 p.m., at Laurel High School, S. Central Avenue, Laurel. Enjoy legendary mime Marcel Marceau at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore on Monday, March 24. Take a day to sample the delights of the Smithsonian Institute’s seven museums on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, March 29. Widowed Persons meeting
The Seaford Chapter of the AARP Widowed Persons Service will have their next meeting on Tuesday, March 18, at 12:30 p.m. at the Golden Corral. The planned guest speaker will be Tom Flowers, of Cambridge, Md. All widowed persons of all ages are invited to attend.

Exchange Club celebration
The Exchange Club will celebrate 92 years of community service throughout the country. Of the 92 years they have been helping Child Abuse Prevention for 24 years. To date more than 190,000 children and 150,000 families have been helped by our programs. There will be a special celebration at RJ Riverside Restaurant on March 18 at 6:30 p.m. All member of five years of more will be honored, plus a lot of fun to celebrate the birthday. Ladies Auxiliary meeting
Sussex County Volunteer Firemen’s Association Ladies Auxiliary meeting will be held on March 19, at Frankford Volunteer Fire Department, Frankford. Dinner will be at 7 p.m. with the meeting starting at 8 p.m.

Breakfast Buffet March 23
An All-You-Can-Eat Sunday Breakfast Buffet will be served by the Galestown Ruritan Club on the fourth Sunday of each month October -May, 7-10 a.m., at the Galestown (Md.) Community Hall. This month it will be held March 23. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 children 6-12 years of age. The buffet features pancakes, eggs, scrapple, sausage, creamed chipped beef, biscuits, potato casserole, hominy, fruit cup, and sticky buns.

Conservative Caucus
The Conservative Caucus of Delaware, Sussex County Chapter, will hold a Banquet on Saturday, March 29, at the American legion Post #19, Route 24, Laurel. There will be a social hour and cash bar from 4 p.m., dinner at 5 p.m. Special music will be by “Delaware Rock for Life”; guest speaker will be Troy A. Girl Scouts celebration
On Friday, March 14, at 6 p.m., all area Girl Scouts, Brownies, Daisies, and their leaders are invited for a special birthday celebration to be hosted by the Greenwood Public Library at the Greenwood VFW. Storytelling will be provided by Donna Prine and display tables will be available for projects or pictures that feature Scouting at its best. The Greenwood VFW is located on Governors Avenue. CHEER Basket Bingo
The 3rd Annual Basket Bingo, at CHEER Community Center, Georgetown, will be held on Friday, March 14. Doors open at 6 p.m.; games begin at 7 p.m. Cost is $20 for advance tickets or $25 at the door. Five raffle baskets and more than 40 door prizes will be awarded. Food and beverages will be available. Proceeds to benefit the Delaware Devils ASA 14 and under girls fast-pitch softball team. ‘Food for Friends’ drive
Curves, 30 Minute Fitness and Weight Loss Centers in Seaford, Laurel and Delmar, will be joining the Curves International Inc. “Food For Friends” food drive to benefit local food banks. Anyone joining Curves the week of March 17 may bring a bag of groceries and have the normal service fee waived. Anyone may drop off non-perishable food items at Curves Monday through Friday during business hours. Last year the food drive collected more than 2-million pounds of food. ‘Walk of Success’
The nomination period for the Alumni Walk of Success at Delaware Tech, Owens Campus, Georgetown, began on Feb. 1. Nominations will be accepted until April 15. Nominees must be graduates of an associate degree or diploma program at Delaware Technical & Community College or the Delaware Tech/University of Delaware Parallel Program at the Owens Campus. Dover Stamp Club
The Dover Stamp Club will hold its 52nd Bourse/Show on March 29, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the W. Reily Brown School in Dover. Includes a children’s table, 12 dealers, exhibits, etc. Free Admission.

Choral Society rehearses
The Southern Delaware Choral Society has resumed its rehearsal schedule. The 75-voice choir is preparing for a performance of the Mozart “Requiem” to be presented May 17, 18, at Delaware Tech in Georgetown. New singers are welcome. Call 227-2227 for details
