The Kiwanis Club of Delmar and Delmarva Shorebirds are sponsoring a Sports Card and Collectible Show on Saturday, March 15, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. with a live auction from 3 p.m. until? The show will be at the Arthur W. Perdue Stadium (Delmarva Shorebird Stadium). Sherman the Shorebird will be there to sign autographs. There will be tours of the stadium, door prizes and 50/50 Raffles.

Sunday, March 23, Boy Scout Troop 174 will have an all-you-can-eat beef and dumpling dinner at the VFW in Delmar. Cost is $7.50 and kids under 12 eat free. Time is 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. For tickets, contact any member of Troop 174 or call Bob White at 875-2843.

We send our get-well wishes and prayers to Terri Moore, who underwent surgery at University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore on Tuesday, March 4, and to Ruth Webster, who is a patient at PRMC in Salisbury.

We express our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Frank D. Bonsall Jr., who passed away Wednesday, March 5. We also express our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Richard Dale Thawley.

Mt. Pleasant Church will have special hymn sing on March 16, 6:30 p.m. The group that will be singing will be Allen and Connie Reustle along with the Rementer Family Trio, accompanied by Marion Hughes and Janice Seymore and another soloist will be Pam Rush. Mark your calendar for this special night of hymn singing.
The Junior Honor Society contributed over 35 toys in the Toys for Tots campaign this year. They also participated in the Walk for Diabetics in November. Recently, in their efforts to secure crosswalks near school, they have received notification from Sara Bynum-King that action will be taken shortly.

Josh Scotten and Brandon Figgs placed second in the National Indoor Soccer Tournament held last week. Teams competed from all over the US, Canada, and Mexico. The following JV wrestlers placed in the Polytech JV Tournament, the toughest in the state: Tommy Alexander - second place; Freddy Baker - second place; Darren Collins - third place; Chris Justice - fourth place; and Jason Layton -fourth place.

Eighth-grade students of the month are Henry Meyers -period one; Stephanie Perry - period two; Alex Caines - period three; Justin Jones - period five; Kim Dryden - period six; and Erica McDowell - period seven. Overall student of the month was Kim Dryden.

Spanish students of the month are Jonathan Smith, A.J. Conrad Campbell, and Henrreadda Myers - Spanish I; Lizabeth Morris - conversational Spanish; and Ashley Baker - Spanish IV.

Ag science students of the second quarter are Scott Price, Rebecca Cropper, and Teena Clark - small animal care; Tyrelle Smith - aquaculture; Andy Giordano - agribusiness and Shauna Lynch and Melanie Sonorier - middle school.

We wish the following people very happy birthdays: Autumn Moore, Robert H. Webster (son) and Mary Jo Moore, on March 9; Pam Bradley Finazzo, on March 10; Don Cropper, Bob Banks, Tim Phillips and Cynthia Hearn, on March 11; Drucilla Vanderwende, March 13; Norma Pegelow and James Wootten, March 15.

Keith and Lorie Naugle welcome their newborn son, Peyton Thomas Naugle, who was born on Feb. 10, 2003. He weighed 7 pounds and 4 ounces and was 20 and 1/2 inches long. He was welcomed home by his sister Hailey, 3.
