Bingos to benefit band
Mardela High School Band-Aides Inc., to hold Bingos to benefit the Mardela Middle and High School Bands and Band Front, on Saturdays, April 6, 13, 20, at Mardela High School Cafeteria. Doors open at 5 p.m., first game begins at 7 p.m. Food and beverages will be on sale.
The Knights of Columbus, St. Molua Council, is sponsoring a “God Bless the USA” dinner/dance on April 13 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hall in Seaford. Come and enjoy a patriotic night out of good food and DJ music from the 1950s to now. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $15 per person. Call 629-3395 or 629-7999 for tickets. Legion benefit dinner
American Legion Post 218, Sharptown, Md., on Saturday, April 6, from 4 p.m. till ?, will hold a Pit Beef Benefit Dinner, for Shelly Eisenhower-Carr. Dinner will include: pit beef, potato salad, cole slaw, and baked beans. Music will be played at 8 p.m. A TV to be given away - 20 chances for $20 each. Price for dinner will be donations. Please be generous and help us to help her.
Benefit Dance for Binky
A benefit dance will be held on April 6, from 7-11 p.m., at the Laurel Legion Post. The band “Savannah” will be playing and we will be having auctions, food, door prizes, etc. Call 875-5961 for tickets. Cost is $15 per couple; $8 single. Johnson was seriously injured in November and unable to work for one year.
Genealogical Society trip
A bus trip to Philadelphia, Pa., is planned for April 9, sponsored by the Downstate Delaware Genealogical Society. We will be visiting the Free Library of Philadelphia, the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, the National Archives Mid Atlantic REgion, and the Genealogical Society of Philadelphia. Spring Bazaar & Bake Sale
The Nanticoke Senior Center, 310 Virginia Ave., Seaford,will be hosting their Spring Bazaar and Bake Sale on Thursday, April 11, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. There is a Lighthouse Quilt being raffled; craft items, bake sale and attic treasures for sale.

TRIAD highway safety
The Western Sussex County TRIAD will hold its next meeting on Thursday, April 11, at 10 a.m., at the Nanticoke Senior Center located at 310 Virginia Ave., Seaford. The TRIAD organization is comprised of citizens and law enforcement working together to ensure for the safety and quality of life needs of senior citizens.
The topic for the next TRIAD meeting will be a presentation on Highway Safety presented by the Seaford Police Department and the Delaware State Police. All members of the community are invited to attend the TRIAD meetings. The TRIAD meetings are normally scheduled for the second Thursday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Nanticoke Senior Center.
AARP meets April 11
AARP Chapter 1084 will meet April 11, 1:30 p.m., at the Methodist Manor House, 1001 Middleford Road. Wendy Scott and Liz Zucker of the Delaware nature Conservancy will be speakers. Visitors are welcome.

New Century Club bears are for children in emergencies
The New Century Club of Delmar has joined other clubs in the GFWC-Delaware State Federation of Women’s Clubs in the Blue Bear Brigade. The members of the clubs are making bears in soft blue fabric to be given to rescue squads to help comfort children being transported in an emergency situation. The bears are the child’s to keep. The bears are being given to the emergency squads in the Delmar Fire Department and the police department by New Century Club members.
The Blue Bear Brigade is a General Federation of Women’s Clubs-Junior’s special project and is being done in most of the United States.
