Laurel Lioness Theater
The Laurel Lioness Club will hold its annual Dessert Theater on April 12 in the Laurel High School. Entertainment will be provided by the Delaware Federation of Women’s Clubs Tri-County Chorus. Tickets are $8 per person and available from any Lioness member. For table reservations call 875-3055.

Laurel American Legion
The Laurel American Legion will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday, April 20, at the Laurel Middle School at 1:30 p.m. All children 12 years of age and under are invited to participate. There will be candy and prizes galore.

Laurel poetry contest
To celebrate April as Poetry Month, the Laurel Public Library will host its Second Annual Teen Poetry Contest. Students in grades 7-12 are invited to enter their own original poems or lyrics in our poetry contest. Prizes will be awarded in the 7-9 grade division and the 10-12 grade division. Submissions will be accepted through April 30. For more information and for the rules governing the contest, stop by or call the Laurel Public Library, 875-3184.

Chicken Barbeque tickets
The Laurel High School Class of 2004 is selling tickets for an April 19 chicken barbecue at $5 a meal. See any member of the junior class for tickets or call the school, extension 240. To pick up meals (or to buy additional meals) come visit the stand on the corner of Rt. 13 and Rt. 9 (across from Bargain Bill’s), on April 19, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Also the Class of 2004 is selling “Bulldog Country” license plates featuring a picture of a bulldog with an American flag background. These license plates are on sale for $5 each. Please support your bulldogs and specifically the junior class by purchasing yours.

Miss & Little Miss Laurel
Miss and Little Miss Laurel pageant will be held at Laurel Senior High School, on April 26, 7 p.m. Applications are available at the Laurel Library, Todd Income Tax, and Christ United Methodist Church. For information call Carol, 875-7114. Application deadline is April 11. Sponsored by the Laurel Exchange Club.
Car Wash/Yard Sale
The Sunday School Department Youth Group of Christ United Methodist Church, 510 S. Central Avenue, Laurel, will hold a free car wash and yard sale on Saturday, April 12, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., at the church. Everyone is asked to contribute some “white elephant” items to help raise funds for our children’s programs. No clothing please! (The car wash is FREE, but donations will be accepted.)

Professionals Day
Administrative Professionals Day is Wednesday, April 23, at 7:15 a.m. at RJ Riverside. Nancy Phillips of Phillips Men’s Store will host a fashion show beginning at 7:45 and lasting around 15 to 20 minutes. Cost is $7 per person. Buffet breakfast includes eggs, bacon sausage, chipped beef, biscuits, home fries, sticky buns, juice and coffee. Last date to RSVP is Tuesday, April 15 to the Laurel Chamber office. Show your appreciation to your staff and support for your chamber.

LHS Class of 1968
The Laurel High School class of 1968 is planning a class reunion to be held on Saturday, May 24, at RJ Riverside in Laurel. Letters have been sent to all class mates with details. The planning committee is still requesting RSVP’s, and has extended the deadline for May 1, 2003. If any classmate did not receive a letter, please contact Carol Downes Riggin at 628-0290 or Martha Windsor Whaley at 875-5772. (The following classmates have not been located: Sharon Arvey, Arthur Barker, Lois Blango, Robert Falcon, Nolan Hearn, Bonnie Hill, Debbie Hill, Kenneth Johnson, Robert Nichols, Darlene Poke Moore, and John Snead.)

LHS Class of 1956
The Laurel High School Class of 1956 will hold their quarterly meeting, Friday, April 11, at RJ Riverside in Laurel at 11:30 a.m. Class members can call Trenny Elliott at 644-0629 for RSVP’s.

Laurel Chamber meeting
The Laurel Chamber of Commerce will hold its next general membership meeting on Thursday, May 1, at 7:30 a.m. at the chamber office. Speaker will be Under-Secretary of Department of Natural Resources, David Small. The chamber encourages you to attend to support the chamber and our speakers.
