Women’s Day services planned
The Bridgeville Charge United Methodist Churches will hold their first Joint Women’s Day services Sunday, April 28, at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., at Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church, 28 Church St., Bridgeville. The speaker for the morning will be the Rev. Marie Robinson of the Bridgeville Charge and the speaker for the afternoon service will be the Rev. Tina M. Miles of Kingdom Worship Center, Baltimore, Md. Dinner will be served after the afternoon service.

Trinity UMC plans revival
Trinity United Methodist Church will hold its spring revival April 19 through 21, with the Rev. Steve Willing, pastor with the Sharptown-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Charge. Friday, Saturday and Sunday services will be at 7 p.m. and there will also be a 10 a.m. Sunday service. The church is on Phillips Hill Road, 6 miles east of Laurel, near Trap Pond. Orchestra, choirs to perform
“Savor Goes Gospel,” a concert featuring the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra at Salisbury University and the gospel choirs of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and SU, will be Saturday, April 27, 8 p.m., in the Ella Fitzgerald Center for the performing arts at UMES in Princess Anne. The evening will include desserts, coffees and champagne. Proceeds will benefit the groups. Tickets are $35 and must be purchased by April 12. For details, call 410-548-5587.

Mt. Calvary fish fry set
The trustees of Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church, 28 Church St., Bridgeville, are sponsoring a fish fry Friday, April 19, 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Cost is $7 per platter, which includes fish, fried potatoes, string beans, stewed tomatoes and cornbread. Cakes and sodas will also be sold. To place orders, call 337-7090 the day of the sale. Carryouts or dining in are available. Deliveries will be available for orders over $21.

Traditional Latin mass set
A Latin mass according to the Missal of 1962 is celebrated on the third Sunday of every month at 3 p.m. at Holy Cross Church in Dover. This month’s mass will be celebrated on April 21. The mass is always a Missa Cantata using traditional Gregorian chant. For further information, call 629-8863.

Spring festival this Saturday
The annual Spring Festival and Yard Sale at Shiloh Community Church, Shiloh Church Road, Laurel, will be Saturday, April 20 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Foods available will be scrapple sandwiches, oyster fritters, peas and dumplings, chicken salad, vegetable beef soup, hamburgers, hot dogs, coffee, tea, soda and baked goods. Woodland to host dinner
The Woodland United Methodist Church women will host their chicken and dumpling dinner Saturday, April 20, at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The price of admission for adults is $7 and for children 6 to 12, $3.50. Children 5 and under are admitted free. No carry outs will be served. The church is next to the Woodland Ferry House, 4.5 miles west of Seaford on Woodland Church Road.

Centenary to host program
Jews for Jesus will present “Christ in the Feast of Tabernacles” Sunday, April 21, 6 p.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church, Poplar and Market streets, Laurel. For more information call 875-3983.

Galestown to host hymn sing
A spring hymn sing will be Sunday, April 28, 2 p.m., at Galestown United Methodist Church, Galestown, Md. There will be no morning worship service. Featured guests will be Greg Brittingham of The Shoremen, Randy Marine and Barbara Bialk. Refreshments will be served.

Prayer breakfast planned
The Bridgeville Community Prayer Breakfast, sponsored by Kiwanis Club of Bridgeville, will be Saturday, May 4, 8 a.m., at Union United Methodist Church, 2 North Laws St., Bridgeville. Admission is $7. Tickets are available from any Kiwanis member. Many Bridgeville companies are sponsoring tables, at which the seats are free.

Flower fair set for May 4
Gethsemane United Methodist Church will have a flower fair (rain or shine) Saturday, May 4, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mother’s Day gifts, hanging baskets, bedding plants, geraniums, bushes and herbs will be available. Lunch will be for sale, as well as homemade ice cream and baked goods. There will also be a free blood pressure check. Gethsemane is located 4 miles west of Seaford at the corner of Delaware 20 and Woodland Road, near Reliance. For more information call 629-9161.

Jim Murray to perform
Jim Murray, tenor with the Imperials for 20 years and with the Gaither Vocal Band for five years, will perform Wednesday, April 24, 7 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 805 Atlanta Rd., Seaford. Murray and his wife Loretta travel across the United States and Canada, performing and working in revivals. For details, call 629-8434.

Fire chaplain to speak
Dr. Leonard N. Smith, chaplain of the Arlington County (Va.) Fire Department, will be the featured speaker at the 25th annual Sussex County Prayer Breakfast Tuesday, May 7, 7:30 a.m., at the Cheer Center in Georgetown. The Arlington County Fire Department was the primary responding agency to the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on the Pentagon. As fire department chaplain, Smith served both at the scene and in the aftermath of the tragedy, providing spiritual support to responders from the military, the FEMA Task Force, and police and fire departments from throughout the Washington Metropolitan area, as well as to his own department. Smith has been senior pastor of the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Arlington since 1991. Under his leadership, the membership of the church has grown 300 percent to more than 1,500. The Cheer Center is located at 20520 Sand Hill Road, off of West Market Street in Georgetown.
