Delmar district plans referendum
The Delmar School District is planning a referendum on a tax transfer from debt services to current operations funds. The transfer of 25 cents per $100 of assessed property value will finance the purchase of textbooks, library books and instructional, music, art, band and physical education equipment and supplies. According to the district, the tax transfer will be accompanied by a tax reduction for the coming year. A meeting to discuss the referendum will be Monday, May 6, 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Voting will take place Saturday, May 11, noon to 9 p.m. in the school cafeteria.

We express our deepest sympathy to Lee and Maria Hastings and their family in the recent death of their son.

Several months ago, National Geographic was in Delmar filming the Mason-Dixon Line, and the town of Delmar. The movie was shown on “National Geographic Today” on Friday, April 12. Someone in Salisbury was able to video the Delmar portion and contacted Charles Truitt. Charles' son-in-law who lives in Waldorf, Md., was able to get the channel and videoed the entire segment. He will bring the tapes down the next time he’s in the area.

Charles Truitt will be at the Delmar Library on April 21 discussing Delmar and the railroad. He will also show the Delmar portion of the video. When he gets the entire segment, he will let everyone know. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.
