Spring Festival in Laurel
Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Laurel, Spring Festival, May 1, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Food includes: oyster fritter sandwiches, homemade vegetable soup, chicken salad, hot dogs, hamburgers, homemade ice cream and baked items.

Chicken and Dumplings
Centenary United Methodist Church, Poplar and Market streets, Laurel, chicken/dumpling dinner Saturday, May 8, 4-7 p.m. Cost is $8 adults; $3 children ages 6-12; under 6 years are free.

Miss/Little Miss Laurel
Miss/Little Miss Laurel Pageant will be held at the Laurel Senior High School, at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 15. The event has been continually sponsored by the Laurel Exchange Club since 1950.
Laurel Alumni Banquet
The 14th Annual Banquet of the Laurel Alumni Association, Saturday, May 15, at the Laurel Fire Hall, Social hour from 5-6:15 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m. Classes to be honored: 1934, 1944, 1954, 1964, 1974, 1979, and 1984. Reservations should be received by April 17, along with a check for $17 per person. First come, first served. For more information call Carolyn Calio, 875-3770.

Laurel High Concert
Laurel High School’s Spring Concert will be on Thursday, May 20, 7:30 p.m. in the school auditorium. This year’s spring concert will feature the high school band, chorus, and jazz combo. Admission is free and open to the public.

Laurel Scholarship Deadline
The Laurel Civic/C. Robert Ellis Memorial Scholarship Applications are available at the Laurel Senior High School, Sussex Technical High School, and the Laurel Library. The deadline is April 30. For more information contact Andy Hearn at 875-8016 or Bruce Boyce at 875-0313.
