Hospital employees plan New York City bus trip
The Nanticoke Memorial Hospital Employee Activity Committee is sponsoring a bus trip to New York City. The bus will leave Seaford on Friday, April 19, and return Saturday, April 20.
The cost is $130 per person (double occupancy). Price includes transportation and overnight accommodations. Several shows to choose from.

NMH Auxiliary Auction is rapidly approaching
Time is running short. Ticket sales are ahead of last year and auction items are of outstanding quality and diversity.
Nanticoke Health Services Auxiliary will hold their 16th annual dinner/auction on Saturday, April 27, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Seaford Golf and Country Club. Tickets for the annual event are $50 per person.
Dr. Anthony Policastro will serve as dinner emcee, with Don Moore, auctioneer/Delaware Sporting Gallery, leading the live auction of items running the gamut from a 650 B.C. Egyptian necklace/earrings to a weekend of golf to a new puppy to a gourmet meal.

Stop smoking seminar offered at Del Tech
Delaware Technical & Community College, Owens Campus, is holding a “Stop Smoking Seminar” on Tuesday, April 23, 8-9:30 p.m.
Anne Connor, RMT, RHy, explains how hypnosis can free smokers from the cigarette habit without withdrawal, anxiety, or weight gain even if previous attempts to quit have failed.
Hypnosis has been recognized by the American Medical Association as a safe, quick, and effective way of kicking the smoking habit. You will be awake, relaxed, and in control the entire time. A free cassette tape helps reinforce what you learn in the seminar.

Delaware Tech offers pediatric first aid course
Parents, teachers, and day care providers can increase their caregiving and safety skills with a course in pediatric first aid at Delaware Technical & Community College, Owens Campus, Georgetown.
Pediatric First Aid covers managing pediatric emergencies including convulsions, burns, poisoning, drowning, fractures, sprains, bleeding, and insect bites. Special emphasis on rescue breathing/choking. The course is approved by the Office of Child Care Licensing for a three-year course completion certificate. Two-session course meets April 30 and May 2, 6-9 p.m. The cost is $30. Participants must attend both sessions to earn the certificate. Call 854-6966.
Healthcare online courses offered through Del Tech
Online courses available this spring at Delaware Tech, Owens Campus, Georgetown, can prepare students for careers as medical transcriptionists or administrative medical specialists.
These self-paced, one-semester courses are designed to provide students with immediate job skills for positions in the healthcare field.
The medical transcriptionist course will give students a working knowledge of medical terminology and allow hands-on experience in transcribing medical reports.
Students should be proficient in keyboarding and know how to use standard word processing software.
The administrative medical specialist course covers medical billing, coding, and front office skills.
Students will learn about diagnostic and procedural coding systems, basic medical terminology, billing and reimbursement procedures, and specialized medical office software.
