Deena Kenney, daughter of Dale and Jerita Kenney of Delmar, was inducted into Wesley College Psi Chi, the national honor society in psychology, on May 4, and was also elected to office as secretary of the chapter.

A surprise 40th birthday party was given for Kelly Bayly at her home on Saturday, April 26, with nearly 40 friends and family in attendance. The best part about this surprise party — it was done right under her nose and she never got wind of it. She celebrated her 40th birthday again on her birthday, which was April 30. Happy birthday, Kelly — how many people get to celebrate twice?

Happy 16th birthday to Jordan Bayly on May 3. He enjoyed having a pizza party with his friends and family at his home. He is the son of Bobby and Kelly Bayly.

We wish Autumn Patilla a very happy 14th birthday on May 7. Autumn is the daughter of Jeff Patilla and Sharon Lowe.

The Western Sussex Democratic Club will meet May 19 at 6:30 p.m. with a cover dish at St. Phillip’s Church. The speaker will be state Sen. Robert Venables.

Barbara Messick, Kelly Bayly, Angie Vilone, Anjelica Ent and Ann Gravenor enjoyed dinner at Websters in Salisbury in the honor of Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 11.

The Delmar Chamber of Commerce is still seeking vendors for the Delmar Day In The Park on Saturday, June 7 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Please call 302-846-3336 to sign up.

Friday, May 16, Delmar Middle School will be holding its second annual Community Health Awareness Day. There will be booths set up by various local health and law enforcement agencies, field day-like activities for students and an opening assembly by the Power Team. The local community is invited to participate in the activities. It is a day for all to learn about model healthy behaviors, and have great fun. Participate in the Health Awareness Day activities at the Delmar Middle School any time between 8:45 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Garland Hayward is holding a flower and plant sale to support the agri-science program at the high school. The flowers and plants are available to the public. Contact the Delmar High School to make arrangements to meet with Garland for all your spring plant needs.

On May 25, St. Stephen’s Choir will hold a social get-together after church to honor Lucille Causey for her 50 years of dedication to the choir at the St. Stephen’s Church.

Larry G. Points, vice mayor of Delmar, Md., has written several books in the area of conservation, etc. He will be reading from his books to the students of Delmar Elementary on May 23 starting at 8:45 a.m.

There are still tickets available for the 12th annual community prayer breakfast Saturday, May 17 at 9 a.m. at the Melson Church Community Hall. Tickets are $7 for breakfast. The prayer breakfast is sponsored by the Delmar Kiwanis Club. See any Kiwanis member for tickets.

Richard Johnson is convalescing at home after being discharged from Kent General Hospital in Dover. We’re praying for a speedy recovery.
