Seaford Historical Society Antiques Roadshow Fair
On Saturday, May 17, the Seaford Historical Society is sponsoring an “Antiques Roadshow Fair.” It will be held at the Methodist Manor House on Middleford Road, in Seaford, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is $5 per person, which entitles one to bring two items for evaluation. Additional items may be presented for $2 each. There will be 12 specialists available to evaluate items brought in by the public. Their expertise includes: glassware, tools, military items, dolls, porcelains, banks, toys, crockery, ceramics, Indian artifacts, musical instruments and more. Three of these antiques dealers are featured here: Louis O’Neal, Jim Dawson and Wayne Culver. As part of the show some of the residents of the Manor House will open their apartments for viewing of their antiques by those who have paid admission. Concerts in the Park
Seaford Main Street will once again be hosting their Concerts in the Park series. The series will feature free monthly concerts at Gateway Park located at High and Market streets. The next two concerts are:
  • May 19 - Cross Country Gospel
  • June 2 - Grandpa Jammers

Seaford Chamber dinner
Greater Seaford Chamber of Commerce will hold its Annual Spring General Membership Dinner, on Thursday, May 22, at Nanticoke River Yacht Club. Social Hour and cash bar begins at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Caterer is Chef Jerry Fletcher. Cost is $15 per person. The Athena Award will be presented to an individual who advances leadership opportunities for all women. The award is sponsored by Seaford Burton, Chevrolet - Oldsmobile Dealer. The John A., Jr. and Helen Moore, Community Service Award will be presented to an individual recognized for selfless volunteer service to the community. Reservations must be made in advance by Friday, May 16.
FOP Basket Bingo
The Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 9, will hold a Longaberger Basket Bingo on Thursday, May 22, starting at 7 p.m. at the VFW, located on Middleford Road in Seaford. The evening will consist of 20 exciting games and will feature several basket combinations including the 2003 Father’s Day set, Proudly American Button and Cracker baskets, Bagel basket, Hostess Serve It Up!, and other several regular line baskets as prizes. Advance tickets are $20 per person, $25 at the door. Advance ticket includes a chance to win the Hostess Large Hamper, the Proudly American Small Wash Day or one of the eight door prizes. Summer Playground
The Seaford Department of Parks and Recreation Summer Playground Program for children in first through sixth grades will start on June 18 and run through Aug. 4. Space is limited to the first 60 children to register. There must be a minimum of 30 children to have the program. There will be field trips, games, crafts and many other activities. Towne Fair Cook Book
This year marks the 10th Anniversary of the Towne & Country Fair in Seaford. The Greater Seaford Chamber of Commerce is working with the Seaford Historical Society to publish a cook book to mark this historic occasion. Anyone who has a favorite recipe or an heirloom family recipe, may send it to the Chamber. Call 629-9690.
