Grant Crouse Memorial
The first annual Grant Crouse Memorial Golf Tournament, sponsored by Terry Michaels About Faces Day Spa and Salon, will be held at the Seaford Golf and Country Club on Friday, May 23. Grant was a junior at Seaford High School. He played on the high school varsity soccer team as well as many other soccer teams. Grant also swam on the Seaford High School Swim Team and the Seaford Country Club Swim Team. On Christmas Day 2002, Grant’s life was tragically cut short. So that Grant’s love of soccer can become his legacy his family established a Memorial Fund. The fund will provide money to those children who need help in pursuing the dream of soccer that Grant loved so much. The Grant Crouse Memorial Tournament will be held at the Seaford Golf and Country Club on Friday, May 23. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m., with a shotgun golf-start at noon. Prizes for top golf teams will be awarded. All proceeds from the tournament will go directly to his Memorial Fund. Rain date will be Friday, May 30. DU Summer Party
The Nanticoke Chapter of Ducks Unlimited will hold their 5th Annual “Summer Party” at the Ross Mansion in Seaford on Saturday, June 14. Funds raised go toward habitat preservation for local waterfowl. the gate opens at 4 p.m. and will feature tropical refreshments, generous buffet, silent and live auctions, live musical entertainment provided by “Bitter Creek” and “The Funsters” with special guests. AARP Driver Safety
An AARP Driver Safety Course for people 50 and over will be given from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 2nd and 3rd, at the Methodist Manor House, 1001 Middleford Road, Seaford. The two-day program, sponsored by the American Association for Retired Persons, stresses how older drivers may operate vehicles safely. Upon completion of the program, participants receive a certificate entitling them to a reduction in their auto insurance. A 15 percent reduction is given to anyone repeating the program within three years. For information and registration, call 628-4879. The cost is $10 per person.

Archaeology Month
In celebration of “May is Archaeology Month,” Virginia R. Busby will speak at the Methodist Manor House on Friday, May 30 at 7 p.m. Ms. Busby will talk about the Nanticoke Indian village called Chicone, a site in Dorchester County where she has conducted archaeological research investigations. Busby is a doctoral candidate in Anthropology at the University of Virginia and serves as Cultural Resource Specialist with the Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs. Her professional experience includes working as a project archaeologist with historic St. Mary’s City. Her areas of specialization include historical archaeology, American Indian site archaeology, contemporary Native American issues and Native American material culture studies. This program is sponsored by the Seaford Historical Society, the Seaford Public Library and the Methodist Manor House. It is open to the public. There is no charge.
