Event at Gethsemane
Youth Group of Gethsemane United Methodist Church yard sale, bake sale, and scrapple/egg sandwiches, hotdogs, and drinks. Doors will be open on Saturday, June 19, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Gethsemane’s Fellowship Hall, located four miles west of Seaford at the corner of Rt. 20 and Woodland Ferry Road, near Reliance. Elks Providing Summer Camp
Seaford Elks Lodge #2458 is sponsoring a number of children, ages 9-13, to attend the Elks Camp Barrett located in Crownsville, MD. The dates are: boys, June 27-July 3; girls, July 25-July 31. For information, 628-3607 or 628-3389. Do not call the Lodge.

Draw bridge due for some emergency repairs
The draw bridge over the Nanticoke River will receive emergency repairs this summer, after being damaged last summer by waters from hurricane Isabel. The state Department of Transportation has informed the city that while the repairs are being done, the draw bridge will be operated manually. The work will start after the city’s Riverfest, scheduled for July 9 and 10. In addition, the state will spruce up the intersection of Shipley and Harrington streets with a new surface and three new sidewalk ramps for the handicapped.
Infrastructure workshop planned in Seaford
The city of Seaford will hold a public workshop focused on the status of its infrastructure Tuesday, June 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the city’s annex, High Street. Members of the city council and city employees, including city manager Dolores Slatcher, will discuss the city’s water, sanitary sewer, storm water and electric utilities, possible extensions into growth areas including the Ross Business Park and the cost of those extensions. Contestants sought for Little, Jr. Miss Riverfest
Contestants can now register for the 2004 Little and Jr. Miss Riverfest Pageant on Saturday, July 10, at 10 a.m. on the entertainment stage during the Nanticoke Riverfest in downtown Seaford. Little Miss contestants should be between the ages of three and six and Jr. Miss contestants should be between the ages of seven and 10. All participants will receive a gift bag. The cost to register is $5. Call 629-9173 for more information or to register.

Still time left in city of Seaford clean-up week
The City of Seaford Clean-Up Week continues. The collection is for city residents only and will be for the following items: building materials, household furniture, guttering, doors, windows, tires, doors, scrap metal, and some appliances (not those containing freon). Items that will not be accepted are: hazardous waste (paints, etc.), liquids, any items with asbestos, contaminated soils, household garbage, aerosol cans, leaves, limbs, grass clippings, refrigerators, air conditioners, and freezers. The remaining schedule is: Thursday, June 3 - railroad tracks to Nylon Boulevard and Martin Farms; Friday, June 4 - Westview, Parson’s Village and Woodside Manor. All items must be placed on the curb line the night before.
