Council to hold breakfast
The 26th annual prayer breakfast sponsored by the Sussex County Council will be Monday, June 9.
The breakfast will start at 7:30 a.m. at the William Carter Partnership building, Delaware Technical & Community College, Georgetown.
This year’s speaker is William (Buddy) W. Farris Jr., Chief of Police, Dayton, Va. He is an award-winning 24-year veteran of law enforcement, as well as a world-class athlete.
He has shared his personal testimony, “Shadow of Death,” with more than 1,500 schools, universities, and churches throughout the United States, Jamaica and Romania.
Tickets, which cost $12, are available at the county council office during normal working hours or by contacting Carol Lewis at 855-7801.
Church to host spring fest
Church of God of Prophecy, U.S. 13 north of Delmar, will hold a spring festival Saturday, June 7, beginning at 9 a.m.
Food available will include oyster, soft crab, crab cake and chicken salad sandwiches, cheesesteak subs, hamburgers, hot dogs, homemade ice cream and baked goods.
There also will be a yard sale.
Churches plan Bible school
The Laurel Ministerial Association will hold vacation Bible school at the following churches:

Choirs to present concert
The choirs of St. John’s Church, Seaford, will present a spring concert of sacred music with David Miller, conducting, and Ralph Holland, accompanying, on Sunday, June 8, 7:30 p.m.

Trinity plans Bible school
Trinity United Methodist Church, Laurel, will hold its vacation Bible school promotion on Sunday, June 8, during the regular service at 10 a.m.
Bible school will be held June 23 to 27. Classes will begin at 6:30 p.m. and conclude at 8:45 p.m.
Dinner will be served each evening at 5:45 p.m.

Morning exercise classes planned
Atlanta Road Alliance Church will host a five-week exercise program, Body & Soul Christian Aerobics, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 6 to 7.
The classes will meet in the church’s new multi-purpose room from June 16 through July 18.

Pampered Chef to raise funds
Christian Church in Seaford will hold a Pampered Chef fund-raiser to help kids with diabetes Tuesday, June 17, at 7 p.m. The event will include a Pampered Chef food demonstration, games and food. Door prizes will be given away.

Centenary plans Bible school
Centenary United Methodist Church in Laurel will hold vacation Bible school from June 23 through 27. Children from age 4 through the sixth grade are welcome.
This year’s program is called Son Harvest County Fair, a week of lessons following a country farm theme.
The morning session will be held from 9 to 11:45 a.m. Enrollment for the morning will be limited to 140 children.
An evening session will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Teens who have completed grades 7 through 12 will be held in the evening only. An adult session for couples will also be held in the evening.

Bridgeville service planned
The second annual Bridgeville community worship service will be held at Woodbridge High School Auditorium, 307 Laws St., Bridgeville, on Sunday, June 29, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Guest speaker will be David Manley, who will portray a biblical character. Music will be provided by community churches.
Last year, about 700 people attended the service.
Traditional Latin mass set
A Latin mass according to the Missal of 1962 is celebrated on the third Sunday of every month at 3 p.m. at Holy Cross Church in Dover.
This month’s mass will be celebrated on June 15.
