Wildcats hold 2004 graduation
Delmar High School held its 102nd commencement Friday night in the school gym. Valedictorian was Kristina Sowell and salutatorian was Lindsey Goslee. Delmar High English teacher Carol Kline was the commencement speaker for the 2004 ceremonies last week. “Your children see you as their heroes and they know without you they would not be sitting here tonight,” she told parents and grandparents of the graduates. She also had a message for the seniors: “You must realize that you have the power to succeed. If you find that you are in control of your own future then you will succeed.”

Congratulations to Ashley Bailey on your graduation, from your Aunt Marcia and Uncle Mark Wilson.

Delores Jones, Barbara Messick, Barbara Tull and Mary Mills spent the weekend in Charlotte, N.C., to see the Nascar races. The bus trip was sponsored by Peninsula Regional Medical Center, through the Gunther Tours. They all enjoyed the races and the bus trip to and from North Carolina.

Annabel Cordrey, Betty Elliott, Peggy Eskridge and Mollie Collins enjoyed a week in Chincoteague. While there, they had dinner with Annabel’s granddaughter, Monica Shubert and husband, Scott, and of course her three children, Seth, Cody and Shaylyn. Monica and her family were camping at Maddox Camp Grounds in Chincoteague over the holiday.

Delmar Elementary enjoyed a field trip to Ben’s Red Swings playground at the Salisbury Park last Tuesday. The children all had fun running around playing on the swings and slides and taking their shoes off to play in the sand box. I noticed that some of the parents and grandparents were having fun with the children also.

We send our condolences to the families and friends of Jane Oliphant, James Cody, James Lee Phillips, Kristen C. Larrimore and Steve Alan Vickers.

Thought for the week: “A successful individual typically sets his next goal somewhat, but not too much, above his last achievement. In this way he steadily raises his level of aspiration” — Kurt Lewin
