Churches plan Bible school
The Laurel Ministerial Association will hold vacation Bible school at the following churches:
  • New Zion U.M.C. will hold Bible school June 23 through 27. Sessions will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. For details, call the church, 875-0727.
  • Centenary U.M.C., June 23 to 27. The theme will be Son Harvest County Fair. Sessions will be 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. For details, call 875-3983.
  • Church of the Nazarene, Aug. 4 to 8. The theme will be Scuba. Sessions will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. For details, call 875-7873.
  • Christ United Methodist, July 14 through 18. The theme will be Scuba. Sessions will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. For details, call 875-4233.

Morning exercise classes planned
Atlanta Road Alliance Church will host a five-week exercise program, Body & Soul Christian Aerobics, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 6 to 7. The classes will meet in the church’s new multi-purpose room from June 16 through July 18. Call Jimalee Humpton at 337-7815 for further details.

Pampered Chef to raise funds
Christian Church in Seaford will hold a Pampered Chef fund-raiser to help kids with diabetes Tuesday, June 17, at 7 p.m. The event will include a Pampered Chef food demonstration, games and food. Centenary plans Bible school
Centenary United Methodist Church in Laurel will hold vacation Bible school from June 23 through 27. Children from age 4 through the sixth grade are welcome. This year’s program is called Son Harvest County Fair, a week of lessons following a country farm theme. The morning session will be held from 9 to 11:45 a.m. Enrollment for the morning will be limited to 140 children. An evening session will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Teens who have completed grades 7 through 12 will be held in the evening only. An adult session for couples will also be held in the evening. Bridgeville service planned
The second annual Bridgeville community worship service will be held at Woodbridge High School Auditorium, 307 Laws St., Bridgeville, on Sunday, June 29, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Guest speaker will be David Manley, who will portray a biblical character. Music will be provided by community churches. Last year, about 700 people attended the service.
Traditional Latin mass set
A Latin mass according to the Missal of 1962 is celebrated on the third Sunday of every month at 3 p.m. at Holy Cross Church in Dover. This month’s mass will be celebrated on June 15. The mass is always a Missa Cantata using traditional Gregorian chant. For further information, call 674-5905 or 629-8863.

St. Luke’s to mark Trinity
St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Seaford, will observe Trinity Sunday on June 15. The Creed of Saint Athanasius will be said and music will be played by St. Luke’s new organist, Florence Ruley.

Minister, wife are thanked
Members of Clavary Baptist Church, Georgetown, recently held a service to thank pastor Richard Blades and his wife Jo Ann for their 25 years of service to the church. Both are members of the Laurel High School class of 1959. The church, under Blades’ leadership, plans to build a a new worship center to accommodate its growing congregation. The church is located on US 113 S., Georgetown.

Bethel Charge plans dinner
Bethel Charge, made up of the Portsville, Mt. Zion and Bethel churches, will hold a crab cake dinner at the Mt. Zion community house, Laurel-Seaford Highway, Saturday, June 21, noon to 5 p.m. Platters are $9, and include crab cakes, cole slaw, string beans, potato salad, rolls, cornbread, dessert and beverage. Crab cake sandwiches will be sold for $5.

Ministry workshop set
Crosby E. Harris Jr., motivational speaker and a trainer with Helps Ministry of Chicago, Ill., will conduct a Helps Ministry workshop at River of Life Christian Center, Greenwood, Saturday, June 14, from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. The workshop will be held at 17 West Market St., Greenwood. Crosby will teach techniques and procedures that will make a church ministry and ministry workers more effective. Harris is executive assistant to pastor Bill Winston of Living Word Christian Center. Crosby has seen church membership grow from 15 to 12,000, and the Helps Ministries expand from 10 to 1,500 volunteers with more than 60 Helps Ministry departments. Registration is $10. Grace to hold Bible school
Grace Baptist Church, Atlanta Road, Seaford, is having its vacation Bible school June 15 through 19, starting at 6:30 each evening. Sessions will focus on the story of Jonah, Veggie-Tales style. Each evening, Sunday through Thursday, there will be classes for pre-schoolers through teens. Friday at 6:30 will be family night. For more information call 629-8434.

No Name Band to perform
