Welcome Home Soldier
The “Welcome Home Soldier” musical will take place at the Laurel Wesleyan Church on Sunday, July 4, at 4 and 7 p.m. The musical will feature a multi-voice community choir, drama, dance, march, video production, and more. It is sponsored by the Laurel Ministerial Association and the Laurel Chamber of Commerce. The musical offers a chance for those listening to say thanks to those who are serving in the armed services as well as veterans who have already served their country. All ages are welcome, but nursery care is not provided. Seating is first-come, first serve and the doors will open one hour prior to the program. There is no admission fee, but a love offering will be taken. Laurel Wesleyan Church is located on US 13A, just north of Laurel. For more information, phone 875-5380.

Cokesbury tent meeting
Cokesbury Church celebrates its fifth annual tent meeting on June 18 and 19. Cokesbury Church, located on the corner of Rt. 18 and Cokesbury Road, in Georgetown, closed its doors in l975 as a Methodist Church and reopened as a non-denominational church in October, 2001. In the summer of 2000, Cokesbury Church held its first tent meeting. Five years later, the tent meeting tradition continues. On Friday night, at 7 p.m., Helen Lockwood, pastor, secretary United Methodist Church brings the message with “The Bishopville Praise Team” singing. Saturday, June 19, is Family Day with local talent throughout the day from 2-6 p.m. At 7 p.m., Billie Birch from Chincoteague, Va., will bring the message with the band, he is a member of, “In His Hands.”

EFM graduates at St. Luke’s
Education of Ministry (EFM) graduates this year at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Seaford, are Sarah Quick, Noel Sizemore and Roberta Burns, M.D. Mentors are the Rev. Jeanne W. Kirby and Vicki Reinsfelder, administrative mentor. EFM is a four-year program of theological study and reflection for lay ministry. The program which has been in existence worldwide for about 30 years is designed and distributed by The Sewanee Episcopal Theological Seminary in Sewanee, Tenn. This year’s graduates received their diplomas at a special time of recognition on the Day of Pentecost. They will also receive a tribute to their accomplishment from Rep. Tina Fallon. Others who are in various years of study are Cinni Cummings, Natalie Kerr, Amy Larsen, Mark Larsen, Joe Reinsfelder, Carolyn Hudson and Jane Phillips. St. Luke’s is blessed to be the location for this EFM Seminar.

Eastern Shore camp meeting
Everyone is welcome to the Eastern Shore Camp Meeting, runs now through Thursday, July 1, in the Raymond E. Crowley Tabernacle at the Church of God Campground. This event will feature live music as well as teaching. Child care will be provided at the Sunday, 6 p.m. service, as well as the Monday through Thursday 7 p.m. services. Christ Church Baseball Trip
Christ United Methodist Church, 510 S. Central Ave., Laurel, is sponsoring a trip to see the Phillies play the Atlanta Braves, Friday night, July 9, at 7 p.m. The cost is $35 which includes the cost of a chartered bus. Part of the ticket price goes to support youth ministries. Call 875-4233.

Ladies Day at Church of Christ
The Laurel Church of Christ, located at 1010 So. Central Ave., Laurel, will be hosting a Ladies’ Day on Saturday, June 19. The theme of the special day will be “Into the Heart of Jesus.” Registration will begin at 9 a.m. The speaker will be Joanne Howe. She is the author of “A Change of Habit” and “From Nun to Priest.” Howe, who now resides in Hendersonville, Tenn., has conducted lectureships, ladies’ Bible classes, retreats and inspiration days throughout the U.S. and overseas. St. John’s U.M.C. VBS
St. John’s United Methodist Church , Pine and Poplar streets, Seaford, will be having a Vacation Bible School promotion and pre-registration on Saturday, June 19, from 10 a.m. to noon. This year’s theme is “Lava Lava Island: Where Jesus’ Love Flows.” Participants will experience Bible Learning activities, play teamwork - building games, take on a daily challenge and many other activities. Vacation Bible School will be June 28-July 2 from 5:30-8 p.m. Dinner is available from 5:30-6 p.m. for $2 per person. For more information call Janet Hackett at 628-0329.

Bridgeville block party
The Bridgeville Church of God is hosting a block party at Museum Park in Bridgeville on Saturday, June 19, from 4-8 p.m. The free event will feature live music, dance and drama, food, as well as lots of fun for the whole family. Church of the Nazarene
On Saturday, June 19, at 6 p.m. Pastor Faye Corbin and congregation from Manokin, Md. will be at the United Church of the Nazarene, 4718 Jackson St., Hurlock, Md. The public is invited. On Saturday, June 26, at 7:30 p.m. Bishop Bordley and congregation from Greater Love Temple, Milford, will be there. Latin Mass June 20
A Latin mass according to the Missal of 1962 is celebrated on the third Sunday of every month at 3 p.m. at Holy Cross Church in Dover. The mass will be celebrated on June 20. East Clarence St. Church
East Clarence Street Church of God annual Vacation Bible School is the week of June 21-25. The theme is “Spotlight On Jesus!” The theme scripture is “I am the light of the world (John 8:12). Times are Monday, June 21, 5:30-8 p.m. and Tuesday-Friday, 6-8 p.m. Ages six through Senior Citizens are welcome.

Concord U.M.C. V.B.S.
Concord United Methodist Church (located at 253 Church Road 20A, just off Concord Road #20 east of Seaford) will be holding Vacation Bible School on Monday through Friday, June 21-25, from 6 till 8 p.m. The theme is “Hero Quest — Powered by Faith.” Children pre-school through eighth grade will see how God’s presence and the trust a person has in God becomes the power that makes an ordinary person a hero. They will learn about bible faith heroes and discover the faith hero inside themselves. In addition, participants will experience Bible activities, make crafts, have snacks, and enjoy recreation time and fellowship. Bridgeville Church production
The children of the Bridgeville Church of God are presenting their production of Dottie Rambo’s “Down by the Creek Bank,” on Saturday, June 26, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, June 27, at 10:30 p.m. The production is free; however, a good-will offering will be taken. Seaford Wesleyan VBS
Vacation Bible School will take place at the Seaford Wesleyan Church, ‘The Ark,’ 6:30-8:30 p.m. June 29-July 2, with a closing finale on Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. on July 4. The theme is “Lava Lava Island.” Phone 628-1020 for information.

Vacation Bible School
Centenary United Methodist Church, Poplar and Market streets, in Laurel will be holding Vacation Bible School from June 21-25. Children from the ages of fourth through sixth grade are welcome to attend. This year’s program is called SonGames where children will learn to join in, team up, get strong, keep on, and celebrate. Each day children will learn through the Bible story, music, songs, crafts, games and snacks. The morning session will be from 9-11:30 a.m. Enrollment for the morning will be limited to 140 children. An evening session will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. A youth session for teens completing grades seven-12 will be in the evening only. Pre-registration is encouraged. Island Adventure June 21-25
