Benefit for Sugar Free Youth
Second annual Pampered Chef fund raiser to benefit Sugar Free Youth, Thursday, June 17, 7 p.m., Christian Church of Seaford, U.S. 13 north. Proceeds from the show benefit a support group for youth with diabetes. Call Melody Kimbler, 629-0560.

Seaford Downtown Meeting
Seaford Downtown Business Association’s meeting Thursday, June 24, 7 p.m., Seaford Museum, 203 High St., Seaford. This meeting will discuss upcoming events such as, Nanticoke Riverfest, Christmas Parade and the Vietnam Vets Moving Wall.

Republican Women
Seaford Republican Women’s Club annual picnic will be Thursday, June 24, Abbott’s Mill Nature Center, Milford. Lunch will be provided by Nancy’s Riverfront Cafe. Cost of the lunch and the tour will be $20 per person, payable that day. Members should meet at the Seaford Golf & Country parking lot at 10:15 a.m. to car-pool. The tour is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. Members will be called for making reservations. Call Sally Higgins at 629-9295 for information.
Trip to Gettysburg
On Thursday, Oct. 14, the Seaford Historical Society is sponsoring a bus trip to the Gettysburg Battlefield. Dr. John Farquhar, who has extensive knowledge of the area and has presented two slide lectures on the subject, will lead the tour. The bus will leave the Seaford Village Shopping Center at 8 a.m. The first stop will be at the site of the birthplace and grave of Lt. William Fisher. Also included will be Union Mills, the GNMP Archives and the electric map. The cost of the trip is $50 per person and covers the bus fare, lunch, dinner and an official tour guide book. Reservations are required and will be limited to 47 people. Yacht Club Fishing Derby
Nanticoke River Yacht Club along with Wal-Mart will host a youth fishing derby from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 19. Pre-registration is at the derby. A parent or guardian must accompany all children four to 14. Numerous prizes will be available in all categories. The fishing will be at the Seaford river bulkhead and the casting derby, snacks and awards will be made at the Yacht Club before noon. For additional information call Richard Swartout at 875-0787.

Riverfest taking place July 9-10 in Seaford
The 10th annual Nanticoke Riverfest, scheduled for Friday, July 9, and Saturday, July 10, is taking place in downtown Seaford. From food vendors on High Street to a youth fishing tournament to tubes floating on the Nanticoke River, and from hourly entertainment to a carnival and canoe jousting, the Riverfest offers something for everyone.
