Churches plan Bible school
The Laurel Ministerial Association will hold vacation Bible school at the following churches:
  • Church of the Nazarene, Aug. 4 to 8. The theme will be Scuba. Sessions will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. For details, call 875-7873.
  • Christ United Methodist, July 14 through 18. The theme will be Scuba. Sessions will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. For details, call 875-4233.
  • Mount Pleasant UMC through July 11. The theme will be Son Harvest County Fair. Sessions will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. For details, call 875-1045.
  • Mount Zion UMC, Aug. 11 through 15. The theme will be Treasures of the Nile. Sessions will meet from 9 a.m. to noon. For details, call 875-3628.

Church to celebrate July 4
Good Samaritan Christian Fellowship Church of Seaford is planning a celebration of Independence Day, Sunday, July 6. The morning service beginning at 11 a.m. will feature gospel singing by the Cash Family of Felton. In the afternoon, the church will have a barbecue lunch. There will be swimming for the children, a dunking tank, a moon bounce, snow cones and games. In the evening, the church will hold a free outdoor concert including include a puppet show for children, gospel bluegrass, the Cash Family, the CROSS Club from the church and members of the church.

Clinic to look at diabetes
Royal Missions and Ministries, an outreach of the River of Life holds Christian Center, Greenwood, is sponsoring a series of bi-monthly clinics to address a variety of health and nutrition issues. A clinic on diabetes will be Saturday, July 12, at 10 a.m. Admission is free. The center is located at 17 West Market St., Greenwood. Call 349-9420 for more information.

Church to hold antique show
The 45th annual Lewes Antique Show and Sale sponsored by Bethel United Methodist Church will be held in the churchís fellowship hall, 4th and Market streets in Lewes, on July 10, 11 and 12, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dealers from Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Delaware will be selling dolls, jewelry, silver, glassware and furniture. There will be decorator and collector items as well as a curiosity shop. The hall is air conditioned and is accessible to the handicapped. Lunch will be available. Admission is $4 per person. Union plans summer school
Union United Methodist Church, 2 North Laws St., Bridgeville, will hold vacation Bible school, Aug. 3 to Aug. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. Call 337-7409 for further information.

Charity auction set for Aug. 2
The fifth annual charity auction sponsored by Take My Hand Ministry Inc., Greenwood, will be Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Greenwood Fire Department, US 13. Bids on items will be accepted from 9 to 10 a.m. At 10 a.m., auctioneer Tommy Tucker, Greenwood, will sell all the remaining items. This yearís auction includes new and used items, collectibles, antiques and home crafts. Refreshments and baked goods will be sold. Donated items (excluding clothing and appliances), baked goods and cash contributions are tax deductible. All proceeds will help poverty level clients of TMHM obtain necessary items (food, fuel, medicine, etc.) that their limited incomes cannot cover. Rock Church to honor nation
Rock Church is holding a celebration July 13, at 6 p.m., to honor the nationís troops. The church is located in the former Wedding Chapel Building on alternate US 13, Laurel.
