Auditions set for ‘Streetcar’
Audition dates for the Possum Point Players’ production of Tennessee Williams’ classic play, “Streetcar Named Desire,” have been scheduled. Jim DeBastiani will be director. The cast includes six men, including a Hispanic, six women, including one Hispanic woman and one African-American, plus four walk-ons. DeBastiani is also looking for a few jazz musicians. Auditions are set for July 7, 2 p.m.; July 8, 7 p.m., and July 9, 7 p.m. Actors should be prepared for cold readings of the script and musicians should be prepared to jam. Performances of “Streetcar” are scheduled for Sept. 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21 and 22. For further information, call the Possum Point Players’ office at 856-3460.

Bethel museum kids’ program
The Bethel Historical Society has openings for children in first through fourth grade for its museum program July 8-12, 9 a.m. to noon daily. For information, call Peggy Anderson, 875-9014.

Adult Plus+ plans trips
The Adult Plus+ program at Delaware Technical & Community College, Owens Campus, Georgetown, is offering a variety of summer trips. Scheduled for July 9-17 is a trip to Connecticut, Maine, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. Options include a visit to the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, a performance of the “Anne of Green Gables” musical, and the chance to view a special collection of Wyeth paintings at the Farnsworth Museum. The flora and fauna of the Pacific Northwest will be on display for a 10-day trip in August beginning on the 14th. From San Francisco, to Victoria, British Columbia, travelers can take in the sights of the west coast including the Oregon Sand Dunes, the Columbia River Gorge, and Mt. Hood. Airport committee to meet
The Sussex County Airport Committee will meet Wednesday, July 10, at the Sussex County Administrative Offices building (West Complex , US 113), Georgetown, at 10 a.m. Included on the agenda will be a discussion of the extension of runway 4/22, an environmental assessment, feasibility study, master plan update, and airport layout plan update, conducted by Delta Airport consultants. Widowed persons to meet
The Seaford chapter of the AARP-Widowed Persons Service will meet Tuesday, July 16, at 12:30 p.m., at the Golden Corral. The planned guest speaker is a “mystery.” All widowed people of all ages are invited.
Senior center plans trip
Nanticoke Senior Center is hosting a trip to Three Little Bakers Dinner Theatre in Wilmington on Thursday, Aug. 22, at 9 a.m., for a matinee presentation by the Glenn Miller Band. Tickets include admission, buffet lunch and motor coach transportation. Cost for members is $55 and for non-members, $60. Call the center at 629-4939 for reservations.

County auxiliary to meet
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Sussex County Volunteer Firemen’s Association will meet Wednesday, July 17, at the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Department. The dinner will start at 7 p.m., with the meeting beginning at 8 p.m.

Family nights each Friday
The Boys & Girls Club of Western Sussex, Seaford, holds Family Nights each Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. Members and non-members are welcome, but all children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. There is no admission fee and all areas of the club are open. Refreshments and prizes are also part of Family Night.

Annual golf tourney set
The fourth annual Seaford Lions Club Charity Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, Aug. 9. Proceeds will help support the club’s community projects such as providing eye exams and glasses, scholarships, and other causes. The tournament will be held at the Seaford Golf and Country Club with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The format will be a two-person, better ball of partners, with net and gross prizes. All golfers must have a valid U.S.G.A. handicap or play scratch. An entry fee of $75 per person will include continental breakfast, golf cart, luncheon, golf shirt, golf balls, cash prizes and a chance to win a new car. The first place team for both net and gross will win $400 cash, second place will be $300, third place $200, and fourth place $150. Woodland planning festival
The Woodland Ferry Association is planning for its 10th annual fall festival and its annual golf tournament. The festival will be held in Woodland, 4 miles west of Seaford on the Nanticoke River, on Saturday, Sept. 14. The invitational golf tournament will be held at the Woodland Golf Park on Saturday, Sept. 28. Proceeds from the tournament will go toward a $750 scholarship, to be given to a Seaford Senior High School senior. For details, call Jack Conner, 629-4324 to play.
