Center to host speaker
New Beginnings Worship Center in Harrington will hold nightly services July 14 - July 16, featuring Sadie Brunson from Wilmington. Services will begin at 7:30 p.m. nightly. The center will celebrate its third year on July 19 and 20, with speaker Bishop David Purnell and music by Pam Rush and Labor of Love. On Sunday, July 21, at 11 a.m., Heaven for Sure will perform and the Rev. Bill Dorey will speak. Heaven for Sure will perform again at the 3 p.m. dedication service and the Rev. Joseph Dixon will speak. New Beginnings Worship Center is at US 13 and Williamsville Road, 3 miles south of Harrington. Mount Olivet plans VBS
Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, High Street, Seaford, will hold its vacation Bible school, Son Canyon River Adventure, July 15-19. A light dinner will be provided for $2 for adults and $1 for children from 5 to 5:30 p.m. and classes will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. for children 3 years old through the eighth grade. Bible school set at Nazarene
Laurel Church of the Nazarene will hold its vacation Bible school, Bug Safari, July 22 through July 26. Bug Safari begins July 22 and continues through July 26. Participants will meet at the church each day from 6:30 p.m. until 9:10 p.m. A “Firefly Finale” will be held each day at 8:50 for family members and friends. For information, call 875-7873. St. John’s plans Bible school
St. John’s United Methodist Church, Pine and Poplar streets, Seaford, will hold its vacation Bible school, “An Extreme Adventure with Jesus,” July 29 to Aug. 2. A light dinner will be provided for $2 from 5:30 to 6 p.m., and classes will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. for children 4 years old through high school. Adult sessions on the same themes and scripture that the children learn will be available at the same time. Call the church office at 629-9466 to enroll.

Blades UMC plans cruise
The Blades United Methodist Church is sponsoring a cruise as a fund raiser. Participants will travel by chartered motor-coach on Sept. 28, to depart from New York City for a one-week fall foliage cruise through New England and Canada. Mt. Zion plans bazaar
Mt. Zion AME Church, Delaware 16, Ellendale, will sponsor a summer bazaar on Saturday, July 13. Activities begin at 7 a.m. with a yard sale, breakfast, bake sale and car wash. Lunch featuring barbecued chicken and fried fish will be served beginning at 11 a.m. Free blood pressure screenings will be available. There will also be demonstrations by Delaware State Police of its crash simulator, “Convincer,” and its canine corps. A baseball game will be played in the late afternoon.   • Monday, July 15, at 6:30 p.m., at the Millsboro Nursing Home, US 13, Millsboro
  • Thursday, July 18, at 6:30 p.m. for the Music in the Park Summer Concerts, downtown Laurel.

Laurel Baptist plans hymn sing
The Laurel Baptist Church will host a hymn sing on Sunday, July 14, at 7 p.m. The Parvis, Kings Ambassadors, EBA Choir and Pam Rush will perform.

Christ Evangelistic plans VBS
Christ Evangelistic Church, Bethel Road, Laurel, will hold “Faith Mountain” vacation Bible school, July 15-19, from 6 to 9 p.m. For more information call 875-2915 or 875-0702.

Traditional mass planned
A Latin mass according to the Missal of 1962 is celebrated on the third Sunday of every month at 3 p.m. at Holy Cross Church in Dover. This month’s will be July 21. The mass is always a Missa Cantata using traditional Gregorian chant. For details, call 302-674-5905 or 302-629-8863.

‘Reunion’ to perform
The gospel group “Reunion” will perform at Christ United Methodist Church, 510 South Central Ave., Laurel, Sunday, July 14, at 7 p.m. COMING SOON. Portsville United Methodist Church will host a gospel concert with the Eternal Praise Quartet of Ephrata, Pa., Sunday, July 14, at 6:30 p.m. There will be a covered-dish dinner at 5 p.m. and refreshments after the concert. Take My Hand will hold charity auction
The fourth annual charity auction sponsored by Take My Hand Ministry Inc. of Greenwood will be Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Company on U.S. 13, Greenwood. Bidders may preview items and negotiate a price from 8:30 a.m.-10 a.m. At 10 a.m., auctioneer Tommy Tucker of Greenwood will sell all remaining items. All sales are final and items must be removed from the fire hall at the time of sale. An Americana Collection will be auctioned off at 11:30 a.m. There will be no negotiated bidding beforehand on these items. Refreshments, including baked goods, will be available. Donated items (excluding clothing and appliances), baked goods, and cash contributions are tax deductible. All proceeds will help poverty-level clients of Take My Hand Ministries obtain items such as food, fuel and medicine that their limited incomes cannot cover.
