Churches plan Bible school
The Laurel Ministerial Association will hold vacation Bible school at the following churches:
• Church of the Nazarene, Aug. 4 to 8. The theme will be Scuba. Sessions will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. For details, call 875-7873.
• Mount Zion UMC, Aug. 11 through 15. The theme will be Treasures of the Nile. Sessions will meet from 9 a.m. to noon. For details, call 875-3628.

Union plans summer school
Union United Methodist Church, 2 North Laws St., Bridgeville, will hold vacation Bible school, Aug. 3 to Aug. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. Call 337-7409 for further information.

Charity auction set for Aug. 2
The fifth annual charity auction sponsored by Take My Hand Ministry Inc., Greenwood, will be Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Greenwood Fire Department, US 13. Bids on items will be accepted from 9 to 10 a.m. At 10 a.m., auctioneer Tommy Tucker, Greenwood, will sell all the remaining items. This year’s auction includes new and used items, collectibles, antiques and home crafts. Refreshments and baked goods will be sold. Donated items (excluding clothing and appliances), baked goods and cash contributions are tax deductible. All proceeds will help poverty level clients of TMHM obtain necessary items (food, fuel, medicine, etc.) that their limited incomes cannot cover. Mass will be traditional
A Latin mass according to the Missal of 1962 is celebrated on the third Sunday of every month at 3 p.m. at Holy Cross Church in Dover. This month’s mass will be celebrated on July 20. Alliance Bible school set
The Atlanta Road Alliance Church, 1.5 miles north of the Nylon Capital Shopping Center on Atlanta Road, is hosting vacation Bible school Monday, July 28, through Friday, Aug. 1. The theme will be Summer Seaquest and classes are open to children age 4 through the sixth grade. There will also be a class available for seventh through ninth graders. Seaford man attends meeting
Nathan Taylor, Seaford, participated in the 13th annual General Assembly of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship in Charlotte, N.C., June 26-28. Taylor joined more than 4,300 Fellowship Baptists at the assembly, where they heard noted author, professor and preacher Tony Campolo, Nashville recording artist Kate Campbell and spiritual formation author Marjorie Thompson. “I enjoyed making contact with like-minded Baptist who are brought together by our mission in the world,” said Taylor, a member of Grace Baptist Church in Seaford. “I appreciated the open dialogue in the workshops.” Taylor also attended ministry workshops, choosing from among 100 topics ranging from ministry to families of children with disabilities, global missions work and addressing poverty in North America. CBF is a fellowship of Baptist Christians and churches who share a passion for the Great Commission and a commitment to Baptist principles of faith and practice. The fellowship’s mission is to serve Christians and churches as they discover and fulfill their God-given mission.

Class to look at Revelations
Cannon United Methodist Church, Cannon, will hold a class to look at the book of Revelations today, July17, 7:30 p.m. A prayer service will precede the class at 7 p.m. Admission to the class is free. New church to hold classes
Upper Room Ministries will hold Bible study classes Fridays at 7 p.m. beginning July 18. Upper Room is a new church coming to the Laurel/Seaford area which will emphasize the principles of cross-cultural ministry, strong discipleship, missions and passionate worship. The weekly studies will lay the ground work for the new ministry and will focus on what the Bible says are the purposes of the church and how it should be organized. Lutherans plan Bible school
Christ Lutheran Church, Seaford, will hold its vacation Bible school, Rancho Roundup, July 28 through Aug. 1. Children ages 3 to 12 are invited to participate. Classes will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. To register, or for more information, call Amy Brown at 629-9755.
