College club organizes ‘Locks of Lov’” at beauty salons Members of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society at Delaware Technical & Community College, Owens Campus, Georgetown, have solicited five area hair salons to help secure donations of hair for the Locks of Love organization. Locks of Love is a nonprofit group that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children who have lost their hair as a result of medical conditions. The custom-made hairpieces are manufactured using donated human hair, and the participating salons have agreed to provide free haircuts for anyone who wishes to donate on Wednesday, July 24. Donated hair must be at least 10 inches long, clean and dry, and not damaged by chemical processing. Participating salons include Clippers & Curls in Milton, CK’s Hair Port and the Hair Station in Lewes, and Bad Hair Day and Savvy Hair by Catherine in Rehoboth Beach. Haircuts for donations will be free; there will be a fee for styling. Anyone who wants to donate hair should make an appointment at the salon of their choice during regular business hours.
