Church to mark its 70th birthday
Laurel Wesleyan Church will celebrate its 70th anniversary on Sunday, Aug. 22, with a commemorative service at 3 p.m. and family barbecue on the grounds at 5 p.m. 
District superintendent Dr. Harry Wood will speak. 
A video on the history of the church will be shown and there will be music by the sanctuary choir and recognition of former pastors of the church.

Traditional mass set for Sunday in Dover
A Latin mass according to the Missal of 1962 is celebrated on the third Sunday of every month at 3 p.m. at Holy Cross Church in Dover. 
The mass is always a Missa Cantata using traditional Gregorian chant.

Mt. Olivet plans vacation Bible school
Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, Seaford, will hold vacation Bible school July 26-30 from 5:30-8 p.m.
"Son Castle Faire" is this year's VBS theme. A light supper will be served from 5-5:30 p.m. For registration information, call the church office at 629-4458.

Jesus at the Beach set for Ocean City
The "Jesus at the Beach Festival" on July 26-28 in Ocean City, Md. This music and ministry festival will begin each day at the Ocean City Convention Center from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. 
Each night from 7 to 10 events will include music, drama and testimony on the Beach at Caroline Street.

Singer to perform at Gumboro
Rebecca St. James will be in concert Wednesday, Aug. 11, at 7 p.m. at Gumboro Fellowship Church, Delaware 26, Millsboro. Admission is $12 for and individual, $9 in groups of 10 or more. For details, call (302) 238-7370.
Born in Sydney, Australia, St. James, 21, started performing at the age of 13 and began recording at 16. She was the youngest artist ever to be nominated as the Dove Award's new artist of the year. 

Centenary to offer Thursday services
Centenary United Methodist Church, Laurel, is holding Wing and a Prayer Services each Thursday at 7 p.m. Speakers for  July and August are:

¥ July 29 - Pastor Bryan Rice, pastor of Christ the Cornerstone Church in Laurel
¥ Aug. 5 - Dale Boyce, lay leader at Centenary United Methodist Church
¥ Aug. 12 - the Rev. Bud Brewer, retired minister 
¥ Aug. 19 - the Rev. Sam McWilliams, retired minister
¥ Aug. 26 - Bishop Catherine Camper, minister at United Deliverance Bible Center
Music will be led each week by Brian and Phyllis Wheatley. 

Church of Nazarene to host singer
Joani Tabor, a Christian singer, will be in concert at the Laurel Church of the Nazarene on July 25, at 10:45 a.m.

Singer to be at Christ Cornerstone
The Rev. David Overstreet will be in concert at Christ the Cornerstone Community Church on Aug. 6, 7, and 8, at 7 p.m. The church is located at the corner of US 13A and Bethel Road, Laurel.
Overstreet, a Christian recording artist, is on tour in this area. He began singing in church at age 9, released his first album at age 10 and made it all the way to the Grand Ol' Opry.
His style includes contemporary, southern, tradition, classic, children's songs and old hymns of the church. 
He accompanies himself on the piano, electric keyboard, guitar and background tapes. He has 32 albums and cassettes to his credit.
Overstreet entered full-time evangelistic services in 1975. He is licensed ordained Southern Baptist minister. 
He travels the U.S.A. approximately 45 weeks a year doing revivals and concerts.
