The Laurel Public Library invites families with children of all ages to two special Summer Reading Program events. Today, July 31, at 6:30 p.m., Rags to Riches, the Theater for Young Minds, will perform the “Princess and the Pea.” The Rehoboth Summer Children’s Theater will perform “Toad’s Escape” on Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 2 p.m. Both of these terrific performances are free and open to the public, and are funded by the Friends of the Laurel Public Library.
Parents and children are reminded the last day to record books for the Summer Reading Program is Saturday, June 9. The End of Summer Reading Program parties will be held on Wednesday, June 13 at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Each child who reads at least 10 books will receive a free book and a prize! Mark your calendars and keep on reading!

Young fiddler to perform in Laurel’s park
On Thursday, Aug. 7, Leah Gray will perform in the “Music in the Park” series at the Market Street Square Park in Laurel.
This summer concert series is sponsored by the Laurel Chamber of Commerce. The concerts start at 7 p.m. Spectators can bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.
Bring a lawn chair and come and listen to the Zydecats at Market Square Park in historic Laurel, Sunday, Aug. 10, from 4 to 6 p.m., rain date Aug. 17. The Zydecats is a great band specializing in musical styles from Louisiana, featuring accordion, saxophone, washboard, and fiddle. Their music includes Zydeco, Cajun, Nola Funk and Country. The Town of Laurel would like you to come out with your families and join your neighbors and friends for this free concert.
