Antique Fair Aug. 14
An Antique Fair will be Saturday, Aug. 14, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., sponsored by Delaware Avenue Antique Emporium, Laurel. Vendor spaces available for antiques, collectibles, and restoration specialists. Lunch will be available on site. Call Rhonda Tingle at 875-6833.
Legion Post 19 plans youth fishing tourney
Paula Walls, post commander of American Legion Post 19, Laurel, has announced that the annual Youth Fishing Tournament will be held on Aug. 28, from 9 a.m. till noon on Broad Creek. This is the 11th year for the event.
Sign ups begin the week of Aug. 9 at A&K Enterprises and Tackle on north Central Avenue. The Tournament is open to all youth, ages four through 15. All participants receive a free gift and winners receive awards including $50 savings bonds from the John T. Benson family. Chairman of the annual event is Jim Cummings for the 10th year. Shooting lessons to be part of fest
Wildlife Habitat Inc. will have a National Rifle Association Youth Sports Fest in honor of Freddie B. Thomas on Sunday, Aug. 15, starting at 11 a.m. at Melvin Rust’s Pond (off Delaware 26) near Laurel. The cost is $10 per family.
The Delaware Division of Fish & Wildlife hunter education training program and 4-H shooting services will provide training in shotgun, archery and air rifle. There will be trap shooting (guns, shells and targets provided), archery (bows, arrows and targets provided) and fishing (bait provided). Lunch will be provided and there will be a small auction. Annual Ride for… KIDSAKE
Laurel Police Department in conjunction with Harley Davidson of Seaford is in the process of organizing the 2nd Annual Ride For… KIDSAKE. The Ride is a benefit motorcycle ride to raise money for The Children’s Advocacy Center of Delaware, a non-profit organization dealing with children who have been the victims of sexual and physical abuse. Saturday, Aug. 28. All motorcycles welcome. Registration at Harley Davidson of Seaford, 8 a.m.-10 a.m. Registration is $10 per person. Ride will start at Harley Shop, go 70-80 miles, then return to the Harley Shop for food and entertainment.
