Seaford Library offers writing program
The Seaford District Library will be hosting a Writer’s Bloc, Inc., program on Thursday, Aug. 12, at 6 p.m. The Writer’s Bloc, Inc. is an incorporated non-profit literary arts organization. It is open to all who have a love of the written word, be it writing or just a love of reading. Writers of any form (essays, fiction, poetry, non-fiction, etc.) are welcome and encouraged to participate in public readings, critique circles, and discussions of writing disciplines. Tom Taylor and Henry Wilson will head up the program, along with a panel of members from the organization. The bloc will be on the last panel discussion of “Is there a book in you?” and add some tips on how one can go about getting it published. The program is free and open to the public.

Seaford Elks Luau
The Seaford Elk Lodge, Elk Road, Seaford, annual Luau, Saturday, Aug. 14. Tony Windsor will be the featured floor show attraction with his tribute to “Elvis, the Legend.” DJ Paul Foskey will spin Big Band sounds and old rock n’ roll from 9 p.m until midnight. Bar opens at 5:30, hors d’oeuvres at 6 p.m., dinner at 7. Cost is $15 each or $30 a couple. This event is always a sell-out.
Cook-Out and Dance
A cook-out/dance, on Sunday, Aug. 15, 1-4 p.m. at Seaford Moose Lodge, US 13A, music by Jumpin’ Jukebox, admission free. Call 629-7365.

Republican Candidates’ Dinner
Seaford Republican Women’s Club on Sunday, Aug. 15, will host a dinner at the Nanticoke Yacht Club to meet the 10 candidates running for offices in November. Anne Nesbitt is overseeing all the arrangements. Tickets are available from any member. Cost is $17.50 per person.
