Annual Ride for… KIDSAKE
Laurel Police Department in conjunction with Harley Davidson of Seaford is in the process of organizing the 2nd Annual Ride For… KIDSAKE. The Ride is a benefit motorcycle ride to raise money for The Children’s Advocacy Center of Delaware, a non-profit organization dealing with children who have been the victims of sexual and physical abuse. Saturday, Aug. 28. All motorcycles welcome. Registration at Harley Davidson of Seaford, 8 a.m.-10 a.m. Registration is $10 per person. Ride will start at Harley Shop, go 70-80 miles, then return to the Harley Shop for food and entertainment.

Spare the Kids Bowl-a-Thon
Teams and sponsors are needed to support the upcoming Bowl A Strike and Spare the Kids Bowl-a-Thon taking place on Friday, Aug. 13, at the Seaford Bowling Lanes at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Teams of five bowlers ($50 per bowler) are needed to participate in the event. Lane sponsors ($100) are also needed. There will be door prizes, music and a live auction at 8 p.m. For more information contact Karen Schreiber at 628-3789 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Basket Bingo on Aug. 19
Basket Bingo, benefiting Relay For Life, sponsored by The Bank of Delmarva, will be at the Salisbury Moose Lodge on Thursday, Aug. 19. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., games begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door, 50/50, raffles and refreshments will be available. Tickets can be purchased at any Bank of Delmarva location or by calling Lindsey Tressler at 410-896-9041 ext. 131.

Golf tournament
The first annual Golf Tournament, hosted by Trinity Transport, Inc., on Sept. 12, to benefit the American Cancer Society. Registration at 8 a.m., shot gun start at 9 a.m., at Deer Run Golf Course, Berlin, Md., four-man scramble format, $60 per person. All proceeds go to the 2005 Relay For Life (Western Sussex County). Delaware Equine Council
Delaware Equine Council meets Monday, Aug. 16, at 7 p.m., at Exhibitor’s Hall, Harrington Fairgrounds to review 2004 fair and finalize activities for the balance of this year. All those interested in horses are welcome. Contact Brenda 875-7869 or Paula 629-5233.

County Advisory Committee
Sussex County Advisory Committee for the Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities meeting, Aug. 16, at CHEER Community Center, Georgetown, at 10 a.m. All meetings are open to the public. AARP Widows Group Meeting
The Seaford Chapter of the AARP-Widowed Persons Service meet on Tuesday, Aug. 17, at 12:30 p.m. at the Golden Corral. All widowed persons of all ages are invited to attend.

Miller Family Reunion The 20th reunion of Samuel James Miller and Elizabeth Ellen Hastings Miller family will be held on Saturday, Aug. 14, at St. George’s United Methodist Hall, in Laurel, at noon. Each family should bring a meat and vegetable or salad dish. Call Agnes Truitt, 629-2111.

AFRAM festival
The annual Eastern Shore AFRAM festival will be Friday and Saturday, Aug. 13 and 14, as it celebrates the African-American heritage with entertainment, food vendors, information vendors, and lots of fun. AFRAM will be at Nutter Park, which is located between Norman Eskridge Highway and Collins Avenue next to Chandler Heights Apartments, Seaford. One of the main purposes of this event is to strengthen the African American community of the entire Eastern Shore through cultural awareness by exhibiting a heritage of unity, success, diversity, and pride. The AFRAM acronym actually comes from the words AFRican-AMerican and this year’s festival theme is “The Spirit of Being African-American.”

DuPont 25-Year Club

Pre-Tour Fitness Clinic
Nanticoke Health Services, Human Motion Institute, and the Western Sussex Boys & Girls Club are sponsoring the Pre-Tour Fitness Clinic (in conjunction with the Nanticoke Bike Tour on Sept. 4), Saturday, Aug. 21, 9 a.m. to noon at the Boys & Girls Club, 310 Va. Antique Tractor Show
The First State Antique Tractor Club annual show at Yoder Farms in Greenwood on Sept. 24 and 25. Admission and parking are free. There will be antique tractors, cars and trucks, flea market, and entertainment on Friday and Saturday. On Saturday there will also be a petting zoo, tractor games, a kiddie pedal pull and an auction. As always there will be plenty of good food. Motorcycle Dinner Rides
The Harley-Davidson Shop of Ocean City, located next to Stephen Decatur High School, offers its weekly dinner rides Wednesdays at 6 p.m. The ride is open to all riders and their passengers and it is open to all brands of motorcycles. This Wednesday the ride will take the long and winding route to the 707 Sports Bar & Grill in West Ocean City on Wednesday, Aug. 18. The rain date is Thursday, Aug. 19. Pennsylvania Christmas Show in Harrisburg, Pa., Saturday, Dec. 4, the largest holiday show in the country, with 500 vendors with gifts from $2-$500. Radio City Christmas Show
Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular in New York City, Sunday, Dec. 5. Cost is $90 which includes transportation on a motor coach and the ticket to the show.
