Smoking cessation program
A new four-session program to help smokers kick the habit is being offered this fall at Delaware Tech in Georgetown. Each two-hour session will address a different topic: What Smoking Does to Us, Preparations for Quitting, Mastering Obstacles, and Staying Quit- Free Forever. The program is designed to help participants understand that smoking is a learned habit, determine their readiness to quit, and reduce their ambivalence about quitting. Stress management and relaxation techniques help boost confidence and motivation to become smoke-free. Sessions meet on Wednesdays from Sept. 15 to Oct. 6; participants may choose either a morning session, 10 a.m.-noon; or an evening session, 6-8 p.m. The fee for four sessions is $20.
