Bingo night benefits school
Basket & Beanie Baby Bingo Night will be held at the Milford Carlisle Firehall Friday, Aug. 27. This event will benefit the Delaware Music School.
Tickets are $20 if purchased before Aug. 27 and include a free raffle ticket for the Homestead Basket Combo.

Restaurant to go to movies
The Lamp Post restaurant, Rehoboth, will host a tribute to the music of the silver screen Sept. 2, 9, 15 and 22. Performers will be from Footlight Productions.
Admission is $33 per person. This includes a buffet prepared by the Eastern Shore’s chef-of-the-year Mark Steele. A cash bar will be available.

Fall car show set
The Seaford Volunteer Fire Department is hosting its fourth annual Fall Car Show on Saturday, Oct. 16, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the company grounds located at the corner of Atlanta Road and Fleetwood Drive in Seaford.
The event is open to antiques, classics, street rods, pro-street cars and trucks, imports and antique farm equipment. New this year is a motorcycle category. Dash plaques will be given to the first 150 entries with Top 30 Awards proportionate to entrants in each category, Best of Show and People’s Choice awards.
Vehicle registration is $5. Spectator admission is $1 with children under 12 accompanied by an adult admitted free.

Church has awards for scouts

Democrats plan hoe down
Democrats of the 40th Representative District are sponsoring a Country
Hoe Down Sunday, Sept. 19, 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Laurel American
Legion Home. Performers include Floyd McGee Jr., Bobby Hitchens, Joey
Boyce, Cathy Gorman, Joline Cross and the Loose Connections Band.
Tickets are $12 and may be purchased at the door the day of the event,
or by calling 875-2674. There will be door prizes and a 50/50 drawing.
to help PPP, pageant
Possum Point Players and the Miss Delaware Scholarship Organization
will hold a benefit, “A Night of Stars,” Saturday, Sept. 25, at the
newly-renovated Possum Hall in Georgetown. The event will begin at
6:30 p.m. with a cash bar and hors d’oeuvres. At 8 p.m.. a cabaret
show featuring Miss Delaware 1999 Kama Boland, several former Miss
Delawares and former contestants and the “best of the best” of the
Possum Point Players will get under way. Director is Kenney Workman.
Several raffles will be held during the course of the night. Admission
is $35 per person and tickets are available by phoning the PPP Ticketline
at 302-856-4560. All proceeds will benefit the Possum Point Players
Building Fund and the Miss Delaware Scholarship Fund. Seating is limited,
so reservations should be made early. The Possum Point Players are
funded in part by the Delaware Division of the Arts. The Miss Delaware
Scholarship Organization is an affiliate of the Miss America Organization.
Contests focus on food
This year’s Apple-Scrapple Festival will take place in Bridgeville
on Oct. 8 and 9. TS Smith & Sons will again sponsor the apple baking
contest. with divisions for traditional apple pie as well as apple
desserts. A panel of both local and out-of-town eating experts will
determine a winner and award a $500 bond in each division. Children
will have a division of their own with a $100 bond prize. New this
year from TS Smith & Sons is a decorating with apples contest. All
creations will be on display during the festival. A $100 bond prize
will be awarded. For the true culinary innovator, there will be a
cooking with scrapple contest. There will be a $100 bond prize awarded
for the best scrapple dish. Entry forms may be picked up at TS Smith
& Sons, Bridgeville Town Hall, Bridgeville Public Library or by calling
the contest coordinator, Rita Hovermale, at 337-8318.
Fall trip planned to Pa.
A motorcoach tour of western Pennsylvania’s Laurel Highlands is being
sponsored on Oct. 11-14 by the Adult Plus+ program at Delaware Technical
