17th Annual NHS Golf Tournament
The 17th annual Nanticoke Health Services Golf Tournament will be held Friday, Sept. 12, at the Seaford Golf & Country Club. Tee off time is noon.
Proceeds from the tournament help fund the NHS Prescription Drug Fund.
The goal this year is to raise $30,000 to go into the fund, which helps patients that are unable to pay for their own medical expenses. Contact Renee Morris at 629-6611, ext. 2404, to sign up for the tournament or to help with corporate or private donations.
Tina Fallon Garden Party
State Rep. Tina Fallon is holding a Garden Party at her house on Saturday, Sept. 13, 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 each and may be obtained by calling Rep. Fallon at 629-8187.
The Seaford Chapter of the AARP-Widowed Persons Service will have its next meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 12:30 p.m. at the Golden Corral. The planned guest speaker will be Stephen Masten of Sussex County Airport. All widowed persons of all ages are invited to attend. Seaford Basket Bingo
On Thursday, Sept. 18, LifeCare at Lofland Park’s Memory Walk team will be holding a Basket Bingo at the Seaford Moose to benefit the Alzheimers Association. First number to be called at 7 p.m. (doors will open at 6 p.m.). Nearly 30 chances to win Longaberger baskets, which includes the x-large oval waste basket. Cost is $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Advance ticket sales include a door prize ticket. Must be 18. Don’t miss this opportunity to have a great time and donate to a wonderful cause.

Seaford Cub Scouts
Boys in grades one through five are invited to join Cub Scouts with a local pack in Seaford. An informational meeting called “School Night” will be held at Central Elementary auditorium on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m., for boys and their families who are interested in scouting. Babies and Toddlers
The “Parents As Teachers” program (PAT) invites parents and their children from birth to age three to a FREE “Stay and Play Center” at Seaford Dept. of Parks & Recreation (SDPR) on Virginia Avenue. Sessions will be on Mondays from 10:30 a.m. to noon. (Closed on school holidays.)
The Center provides an opportunity for parents and caretakers with young children to play together and discuss any parenting questions with a parent educator. Other services include a lending library of children’s and parenting books and evening group meetings on a variety of topics.

Seaford Department of Parks and Recreation trip to Radio City Music Hall “Christmas Spectacular” in New York will be Sunday, Dec. 7. Tickets are $87, which includes ticket to the show and transportation by motor coach.
The noon show, lasting approximately 1-1/2 hours. From 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. you will have free time for eating, shopping or sight-seeing. Depart for home at 5:45 p.m. Forty-six tickets are available on a first-come first-serve basis.
Christmas & Gift Show
Seaford Department of Parks and Recreation trip to Harrisburg, Penn., for a Christmas & Gift Show will be on Saturday, Dec. 6. Shop at the largest holiday show in the country with more than 500 vendors, with unique gifts priced from $2-$700. See a life-size recreation of an Olde Christmas Village, decorated trees and mantles, 100-foot train display, choral and musical groups, cooking clinics, dance troupe and more.
Show tickets are $5. Motor Coach cost is $21. Depart from Seaford at 7 a.m., leave Pennsylvania for home at 5 p.m. with a dinner stop in Lancaster at 6 p.m. Reserve your spot by Friday, Nov. 14.
The Seaford District Library offers a Back-to-School gift for students in grades 6-8 with Homework Helper, a computer workshop at your library on Monday, Sept. 8, from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
The Homework Helper session will teach students how to find and use the online resources available on DelAWARE databases, the digital library of the first state.
Databases include Gale Student Resource Center, Grolier Online Encyclopedias, Sirs Discoverer, Searchasaurus, Lit Finder, and more.
All fully loaded with reliable information students can use for homework, school projects and term papers or to just simply learn.
Students will be using the library computers during hands-on instruction by Ms. Terry Plummer, administrative librarian from the State of Delaware, Delaware Division of Libraries.

Trip to Myrtle Beach
The Nanticoke Senior Center is planning a trip to Myrtle Beach, on Sept. 29-Oct. 3. The trip includes: Roundtrip motorcoach transportation, accommodation for four nights at the Landmark Resort; five shows with orchestra seats; cruise on the Intercoastal Waterways.

Fall into fitness
