Burris wins by a slim margin over Bill Lee
John Burris won the GOP Primary Saturday by a vote of 13,887 to 13,843 over William Swain Lee. Judge Lee was favored by voters in Sussex and New Castle counties, but lost in Kent County. (A recount was taking place as the Star was going to press.)
The vote in Sussex County was 4,332 for Lee and 3,502 for Burris. If the count stands, Burris will face Democrat Ruth Ann Minner for the office of governor. Minner has served almost eight years as lieutenant governor. John F. Brady won the GOP Primary for Sussex Register in Chancery over Bradley H. Layfield, 4,191 to 3,167.
