Centenary UMC
Centenary United Methodist Church, Poplar and Market streets, Laurel, is planning its 200th anniversary. The following events have been scheduled:
  • Saturday, Oct. 12: Teen Dance, “Forever Moon,” a Lam-Jam Group. Debbie Morgan is in charge of the dance.
  • Saturday, Oct. 19: Church Organ and Handbell Recital.
  • Sunday, Oct. 20: Homecoming Dinner held at Laurel Fire Hall, at 2 p.m., with special music.

Trisha Benton Band
Enjoy an evening of music from contemporary folk to light rock performed by the Trisha Benton Band on Friday, Sept. 27, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., at RJ Riverside Restaurant, in Laurel.
Laurel library decorates
Help decorate the Children’s Room at the Laurel Public Library for October! Children ages 6 and older are invited to stop by the library on Tuesday, Oct. 1 anytime between 3 and 5 p.m. to make a fall craft. For more information, call the library at 875-3184.

Whaley Family Reunion
The Whaley Family Reunion, for the descendants of Harvey Byrd Whaley, will be held at Trap Pond State Park in Laurel on Sunday, Sept. 29, at 1:30 p.m. weather permitting. Please bring a covered dish and a beverage. If inclement weather occurs, the reunion will be located at Trinity Church on Phillips Hill Road in Laurel.
