Delmar Chamber 50-50
The Delmar Chamber of Commerce will be selling 50-50 tickets to help raise money for community events. The first winner will receive $500, the second will receive $300, and the third will receive $200, a total of $1,000 will be given away. Tickets can be purchased at the Delmar Town Hall, the Cookie Bouquet in Delmar or from any Chamber member. Call the Chamber voice mail at 846-3336 for more information.
Wildcats Pig Roast
Delmar Wildcats Pigskin Pig Roast will be held on Saturday, Oct. 25, 11 a.m.-??, at the Mason-Dixon Sports Complex. All-You-Can-Eat, adults-$10, under 6-$5, carry-outs available. Food includes: barbeque pork, chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries, macaroni salad, potato salad, Pepsi Cola. Games of softball, horseshoes and volleyball for a family day. This is to benefit the Delmar Football Program.
Book and bake sale
There will be a book and bake sale on Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Delmar Public Library from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This fundraiser is sponsored by the “Friends of the Delmar Public Library” twice a year. The proceeds will go for special programs for both adults and children in the up-coming year. A good selection of previously owned library books and new books can be bought for bargain prices.
Benefit Dance and Auction
The Delmar Fire Department will be holding a benefit dance and silent auction for one of its members. Kevin Morris has undergone heart surgery and has other health problems. The benefit will help with the medical bills he has incurred. The dance will be from 8 p.m.-midnight, at the Delmar fire house on Saturday, Nov. 1. The cost will e $10 per person. Delmar Library events
The Delmar Public Library has planned the following:
There will be a Christmas craft program for beginning crafters Tuesday, Oct. 28, 7 p.m. Sharon Levadnuk will teach how to make a raffia angel. The program is free but sign-up will be needed by Oct. 25.
The children’s librarian will host the annual Halloween read night Thursday, Oct. 30 at 6:30 p.m. Participants will receive certificates and treats.
A children’s program featuring Shorinji Kempo, a form of defense martial arts, will be Thursday, Nov. 6 at 6:30 p.m. Bruce Davis and Randy Parsons of Delmarva Shorinji Kempo will demonstrate basic control techniques for children ages 8 and up.
