Annual fall bazaar planned
The annual fall bazaar sponsored by the Portsville Church United Methodist Women will be Saturday, Nov. 2, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the church hall. Lunch will be served beginning at 11 a.m., featuring vegetable soup, oyster fritters, chicken salad and hot dog sandwiches, and home made pie. The church is 3 miles west of Laurel on Portsville Road and Dogwood Lane.
VFW plans fund-raiser
Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Ladies Auxiliary of Virgil Wilson Post 4961, Middleford Road, Seaford, are holding a fund-raiser for a member in need of medical help Saturday, Nov. 2, 2 to 9 p.m., with dinner by Jimmy’s Grille, karaoke by Bernie Miller, raffles and an auction. Play auditions set
Possum Point Players is holding auditions for the first show in its 2003 season, “Dial M for Murder.” Nate Mortz of Bridgeville will direct the show.
The cast consists of one female between the ages of 30 and 40, three males between the ages of 30 and 40 and one male 40 years or older. Auditions will take place Sunday, Nov. 3, at 4 p.m. and on Monday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m., at Possum Hall in Georgetown. Those interested in auditioning but unable to attend the scheduled auditions may call the Possum Point Players’ office at 856-3460. The show will be presented on Jan. 24, 25, 26, 31 and Feb. 1, 2, 3.
Election Day food sale set
The ladies auxiliary of the Blades Fire Co. will sell oyster and chicken salad sandwiches and homemade soup Tuesday, Nov. 5, at the Blades Fire Hall at the corner of Cannon and 5th streets. Orders may be placed by calling the fire hall at 629-4896.
Blades to honor veterans
The town of Blades will hold its annual Veterans Day ceremony at the Blades Park Monday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. Following the ceremony refreshments will be served at the Blades Community Hall on W. 4th Street, Blades.
Seniors invited on Biloxi trip
Nanticoke Senior Center is hosting a trip to Biloxi, Miss., and New Orleans Nov. 8 through 16. The package includes eight nights (four nights at one of Biloxi’s casinos, two nights in Atlanta, Ga., one night in the Greensboro, N.C., area, one night in Asheville, N.C.); eight breakfasts at the hotel; eight dinners out; shows, tours of many sites, museums and cruises. All taxes, meal gratuities, baggage handling and transportation are included. Cost is $959 per person for double occupancy; $1,209 for single occupancy. Craft Fair at DTCC planned
The 19th annual craft fair at Delaware Technical and Community College, Georgetown, will be Saturday, Nov. 9, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Basket bingo to be Nov. 15
Salisbury Metro Lions Club will host a basket bingo on Friday, Nov. 15, at the Moose Lodge, Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, to benefit sight and hearing programs. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; games begin at 6:30 p.m.
