'Arms of Love' support
Nanticoke Memorial Hospital will be offering a new support group entitled "Arms of Love," beginning Tuesday, Nov. 9, from 7-8:30 p.m. and will met every second Tuesday thereafter. There is no fee to attend.
According to Lori Jones, a Social Worker and Bereavement Counselor at Nanticoke, "The hospital recognized the community's need for additional support for families who have experienced the loss of a baby through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth or newborn death and developed the program. Family members are encouraged to attend the meetings and to discuss their feelings or just listen."
Each year half a million dreams are shattered. Of the 3.3 million babies born alive, some 30,000 die during the first 28 days. Another 33,000 are stillborn. In the United States, miscarriage occurs in 15-20 percent of all pregnancies, while ectopic pregnancy occurs in one percent.
