Blades oysters & chicken
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Blades Fire Co. will be selling oyster and chicken salad sandwiches and oyster and chicken salad platters, and homemade soup, on Saturday, Nov. 23, 11 a.m. You may call the fire house on that day and place your orders for pickup. The number is 629-4896. Call early if you want to pick up at a certain time. The fire house is located at the corner of Cannon and 5th streets.

Business training offer
The Delaware State Police Business Community Crime Prevention Unit is sponsoring its annual Business Training Academy at Delaware Technical and Community College, Owens Campus, Georgetown, on Nov. 26 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Troopers, police, and experts from the business community will conduct business training sessions on check/credit card fraud, burglary, robbery, shoplifting, internal theft prevention, violence in the workplace, substance abuse, pre-employment screening, counterfeit currency, video/alarms, and other interesting business related topics.

Country Craft Show
The Junior Class of Epworth Christian School is hosting its second annual “Christmas in the Country” Craft Show on Saturday, Nov. 30. The show will take place from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Epworth Christian School. Crafters will be offering fresh homemade wreaths, stained glass, seascapes, painted antiques, and a wide assortment of other crafts. The juniors will be offering refreshments and bake sale items in the school cafeteria. Epworth Christian School is located at 14511 Sycamore Road in Laurel, 4.5 miles east of the Rt. 13 intersection with O’Neal’s Antiques and Mitchell’s Furniture on the corners. Toys for Tots
Again this year, Regional Builders, Inc. will be a local drop-off for the Toys for Tots program. This program, conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, collects and distributes toys to needy children in the community. To participate, you may drop off new, unwrapped toys at Regional Builders, Inc., 300 High Street, Seaford. Donations will be accepted on weekdays between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. through Dec. 23. You may also make a tax-deductible donation to Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, P.O. Box 1947 Marine Corps Base, Quantico, VA 22134. Although last year’s collection was a success, Regional Builders hopes to collect even more toys this year.
Family nights Fridays
Family Nights each Friday at the Boys & Girls Club. Family Nights take place each Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the Western Sussex Boys & Girls Club. All are welcome (members and non-members) as long as children are accompanied by a parent or guardian. There is no admission fee and all areas of the club are open. Refreshments and prizes are also part of Family Night

Auction-Christmas tour
On Saturday, Dec. 14, Hudson’s General Store will sponsor a Candlelight Christmas Tour of their friends’ and families’ homes, beginning at 5:30 p.m. There will also be a silent auction of special pieces donated by local artisans, which can be viewed and bid on at Hudson’s General Store from Nov. 29 through Dec. 13. The items will be placed in each home on the tour for final bids. Tickets for the tour will go on sale in early November at Hudson’s General Store. Tickets are $10 each, and all proceeds from the tour and the auction will benefit Delaware Hospice. Donations are also appreciated. Payment for tickets or donations should be made payable to “Delaware Hospice, Sussex Chapter” and should be mailed to Hudson’s General Store, RD 2, Box 3A, Clarksville, DE 19970.

Craft Show at Epworth
The 2nd Annual “Christmas in the Country” Craft Show at Epworth Christian School, 14511 Sycamore Road, Laurel, will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Junior Class sponsors the show, with refreshments, and a $1 donation at the door. For directions, call 337-3637 or 856-2321.

Christmas Spectacular
Nanticoke Senior Center is hosting a trip to Three Little Bakers Dinner Theatre in Wilmington, to see the Christmas Spectacular, on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 9 a.m. Cost to members is $55, non-members is $65. Call 629-4939
