Nanticoke Auxiliary plans 40th annual winter gala
The Nanticoke Health Services Auxiliary will hold its 40th annual Winter Gala, Saturday, Jan. 22, at the Seaford Golf and Country Club. The event entitled "Affair to Remember" is being co-chaired by Wendy Karnish and Pat Olekszyk.
The evening will consist of cocktails at 6 p.m., a buffet dinner at 6:30 p.m. and dancing from 8 p.m. till midnight. Black tie is optional.

'Tree of Dreams' comes to Dover Mall Dec. 3-5,10-12
The Ronald McDonald House of Delaware announces that the "Tree of Dreams" will be held at the Dover Mall the weekends of Dec. 3-5 and Dec. 10-12 during mall hours.
The "Tree of Dreams" is decorated with ornaments that have gift items printed on them that reflect the needs of the RMH House and the RMH Family rooms. Shoppers select an ornament, purchase the gift, and donate it to the House.
One third of the 8,500 families that the Ronald McDonald House served since opening 8 years ago are from Kent and Sussex county.
The Ronald McDonald House is a home-away-from-home for families of seriously ill or injured children receiving treatment at area hospitals. parents find the support and understanding of other families in similar situations, as well as safe, inexpensive lodging.

NHS Auxiliary to meet
The regular meeting of the Nanticoke Health Services Auxiliary will be Wednesday, Dec. 8. This will be a luncheon at the Seaford Golf and Country Club. Cost $11 and reservations are a must. The Auxiliary meeting will be at 10 a.m. followed by lunch at 11:30 a.m.
The Seaford high School chorus will entertain the members. All members should try to attend the meeting as there will be an election of officers and voting on the annual gift to the hospital.
A quorum is necessary to conduct the business.

McDonald House lighting
The Ronald McDonald House of Delaware celebrates "Share A Night" on Thursday, Dec. 16, 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Ronald McDonald House. There will be entertainment and light refreshments.
Ronald McDonald will throw on the switch to turn on more than 20,000 holiday lights outlining the house.
Organizations, businesses, classes and schools are invited to contribute $15 or more to the house.
Each $15 represents a night's stay at the house for families with ill or injured children who are being treated at an area hospital.
Lighting is designed, hung, and donated by Delaware's Rich Faucher of Red Lion Road.
The Ronald McDonald House provides a "home away from home" for families of ill or injured children receiving treatment at an area hospital. A supportive and nurturing environment is provided for families during times of emotional and financial stress.

SHARP Center dates
The SHARP Center is an HIV/AIDS resource center available to the community and those affected by HIV/AIDS. The center houses over 400 book titles, 40 videos, pamphlets and brochures, and hosts an internet accessible work station. The SHARP Center also offers client advocacy, educational workshops and outreach, and free HIV testing. The SHARP Center is a not for profit organization supported by donations and the Delaware HIV Consortium. The SHARP Center is located at 107B South St. in Rehoboth.

In addition to the Sussex County AIDS Committee providing free and anonymous testing every Thursday, 4-6 p.m., the SHARP Center will now offer free and anonymous testing by appointment five days a week.
The SHARP Center, uses the OraSure HIV test which is an oral test that requires no blood to be drawn. For more information, please contact Jeanne at (302) 644-1094.

Internet Access training
On the second Tuesday of each month there will be an internet training session held at the SHARP Center. Karene Jules-Chester, from the Delaware Academy of Medicine, will offer training from 10 am. to noon and again from 1 to 3 p.m.
The training will cover internet access, focusing on how to search for literature. The sessions are limited to three participants per session. The next scheduled class is Tuesday, Dec. 14. Please contact Jeanne at (302) 644-1094 to register.

Free Hepatitis Workshop
The SHARP Center will be sponsoring a hepatitis workshop at the Georgetown State Service Center, Public health Conference Room on Dec. 21 at noon.
The presenter Regina Z. Crocker RN, BSN, OCN, from Scherling Oncology/Biotech, will focus on the epidemiology of hepatitis C and the risk factors associated with hepatitis.
She will also be reviewing the different types of hepatitis viruses. Light refreshments will be served. Please register in advance by calling 644-1094.
