Plans for Winter Gala
Suzanne Smith, Nanticoke Health Service’s Auxiliary President, along with her co-chairs for the event, Pat Olekszyk and Sherry Michalik, announce the final arrangements are being made for the annual Auxiliary’s dance. The evening will capture “50 Years of Magic” and celebrate the Auxiliary’s 50 years of service to the hospital, along with the hospital’s 50 years of delivering quality healthcare to the community. The special evening will consist of music, magic, beverage, food and enjoyment. The theme will be highlighted throughout the evening with wonderful entertainment from local magician, Jack Noel and his sidekick rabbit, Trixie. The gala is Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002. Cocktails begin at 6 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m. with dancing until midnight at the Seaford Golf and Country Club . Cost is $50 per person. Black tie optional. Music by ENCORE. ‘Italian Christmas’ concert coming to Seaford church
Guest singers from Delaware will join the Southern Delaware Choral Society for its season concert, “An Italian Christmas” with music by Puccini, Menotti and Respighi on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 7:30 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, Rehoboth, and on Sunday, Dec. 16, at 3 p.m. at St. John’s United Methodist Church, Seaford. The concert includes Respighi’s Laud to the Nativity and Menotti’s Shepherds Carol from Amahl and the Night Visitors, as well as Puccini’s Messe di Gloria. Clatworthy talk is Dec. 12
The 37th District Republican Committee announces that it will be having its next meeting on wednesday, Dec. 12, at 7:15 p.m., at Rehoboth Beach Country Club. U.S. Senatorial candidate Ray Clatworthy will be guest speaker. All 41 districts are encouraged to be represented.

AARP meeting Dec. 13
Seaford Chapter #1084 of the American Association of Retired Persons will meet at the Methodist Manor House, 1001 Middleford Road, on Thursday, Dec. 13, at 1:30 p.m. There will be a musical program for the Christmas holiday. Members are asked to bring cookies to share during a social time following the meeting.

Toys for Tots drop-off
Regional Builders, Inc. has been established as a local drop-off for the Toys for Tots program. This program conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve collects and distributes toys to needy children in the community. To participate, you may drop off new, unwrapped toys at Regional Builders, Inc., 300 High St., Seaford. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You may also make a tax deductible donation to Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, P.O. Box 1947 Marine Corps Base, Quantico, VA 22134.

Turkey Shoot Dec. 15
A Turkey Shoot will be held at Nanticoke Sportsmen’s Club, Road 485 Bethel-Concord Road, on Saturday, Dec. 15, at noon. Available will be oyster sandwiches, food and drinks. For more information call 629-9199.

AARP Widowed Person meet Dec. 18
The Seaford Chapter of the AARP-Widowed Person Services will have their next meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 12:30 p.m. at the Golden Corral. This will be the annual Christmas Luncheon and canned food items or toys will be collected for the Seaford Associated Charities. Also, our annual New Year’s Day Luncheon will be at the St. Luke’s Parish Hall and will be catered by Jimmy’s Grille. The fee of $13 is due at the Dec. 18 meeting. All widowed persons of all ages are invited to attend both meetings.

Sunday Breakfast Buffet Dec. 23
An All-You-Can-Eat Sunday Breakfast Buffet will be served by the Galestown Ruritan Club on the 4th Sunday of each month October -May, 7-10 a.m., at the Galestown (Md.) Community Hall. This month it will be held Dec. 23. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 children 6-12 years of age. The buffet features pancakes, eggs, scrapple, sausage, creamed chipped beef, biscuits, potato casserole, hominy, fruit cup, and sticky buns.
