Wheatley to have yard sale
An indoor yard and bake sale will be held Saturday, Dec. 8, beginning at 7 a.m. at Wheatley Church Community Hall, corner of Route 313 and Wheatley Church Road, Eldorado-Sharptown Road near Sharptown, Md.
Proceeds will help pay for new siding for the church.
Singing to celebrate holiday
Trinity United Methodist Church of Laurel will host Hallelujah Opry Saturday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m.
The Christmas celebration will feature Back Porch Light, Everett and Sandy LeCates and Pat Parsons. From Laurel, take Delaware 24 toward Trap Pond. Turn left on Adams Road, after the Trap Pond turn-off.

Women’s group plans dinner
The Ninety & Nine will hold its annual Christmas dinner at the Seaford Golf & Country Club, Seaford, Monday, Dec. 10, at 6:30 p.m.
The Ninety & Nine is a ministry which was formed in 1984 by a group of women who care about the needs of others.
Guest speaker will be John Hollis, Seaford, vice president of resource development for Boys & Girls Club of Delaware. His topic will be the best-selling book, “The Prayer of Jabez.”
Guest singer will be Lori Jones of Laurel. Jones is a social worker at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. She and her husband John attend Centenary Methodist church in Laurel, where she leads praise and worship.

Alliance Church cantata set
The choir of the Atlanta Road Alliance Church, under the direction of Richard Trice, will present the Christmas cantata, “In Adoration of the King of Kings,” Friday, Dec. 14, 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 16, 7 p.m.
The church is located on Atlanta Road, 1 and 1/2 miles north of the Nylon Capital Shopping Plaza, next to Seaford Animal Hospital.

Portsville plans breakfast
A pancake breakfast will be Saturday, Dec. 8, 7 to 10 a.m. at Portsville United Methodist Church, Dogwood Lane, just west of Bethel.
Cost for adults is $4 and for children 6 to 12, $2.50. Children under 5 years are admitted free.

Blades UMC plans nativity
A live nativity will be held at Blades United Methodist Church, Blades, Saturday, Dec. 15, 6 to 8 p.m.
A special night being planned
Mt. Calvary AME Church, Concord, will sponsor a Night of Elegance Saturday, Dec. 15, beginning at 5 p.m.
The event will be held in the fellowship hall of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Seaford.

Mass uses Gregorian chant
A Latin mass according to the Missal of 1962 is celebrated on the third Sunday of every month at 3 p.m. at Holy Cross Church in Dover.
This month, the mass will be celebrated on Dec. 16.

Program set at First Baptist
The First Baptist Church of Seaford choir and its drama players will perform “Maranatha! The Lord Is Come,” a Christmas musical by Glenn and Jan Christianson, Sunday, Dec. 16 7 p.m. in the church auditorium.

Carey’s to do cantata
Carey’s Church choir will present a Christmas cantata, “Promise of Peace” Sunday, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served in the church social hall afterwards.
The church is 5 miles west of Millsboro, off Delaware 24 on Sussex 421 (Carey’s Camp Road).
Serving oyster sandwiches
Line United Methodist Church will hold a breakfast, lunch and bake sale Saturday, Dec. 8, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Featured will be oyster sandwiches, chicken salad, home-made beef soup, peas and dumplings and a variety of cakes and candies.
Line Church is located east of Delmar on Line Church Road.
Shopping to benefit church
Christ the Cornerstone Community Church has opened a Christmas shop for holiday buying. All proceeds go to the church building fund.
Hours are noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
