Laurel Lioness chances
The Laurel Lioness are off to a great start this year with the following projects. Chances for the Longaberger “Pumpkin Patch” Basket can be purchased for $1 to be given away in December. The Lioness are also selling Home Interior Candles with your choice of many scents for $6. Please contact Bea Wright at 875-2674 or any Lioness member for a chance on the basket or with your order for candles.

The Laurel Cub Scouts Pack 90 will be “Carolling in the Park” on Monday, Dec. 10, from 7-8 p.m. The public is invited to attend this free concert at Market Street Park, Downtown Laurel.

Laurel Public Library
The Laurel Public Library plans busy month for December.
On Monday, Dec. 10 - Help us decorate our Christmas Tree! Drop in any time between 3:30-5:30 p.m. and make an ornament for the Library Christmas Tree!
Wednesday, Dec. 12 - A Homeschooler’s Christmas Program! Children ages 6 and older are invited to make a Christmas tree ornament that will be donated to a needy family, hear Christmas stories and enjoy refreshments. From 1-2:30 p.m. Space is limited, and pre-registration is required
Thursday, Dec. 20 - Christmas Family Story Hour. Join us for a family evening of Christmas stories, craft, and refreshments. For children of all ages. 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 27 - School’s Out! Program, at 2 p.m. Ed Emberley Drawing Program - come and learn a whole new way to draw! For children ages 6 and older.

Book Signing at Laurel
The Friends of the Laurel Public Library are sponsoring a book signing by two local authors. Nancy Lynch and David Michael Smith will be signing copies of their latest books on Wednesday, Dec. 12, from 6-8 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
Nancy Lynch and Kevin Fleming’s newest book, “Delaware,” is a compilation of the best of their three books on the Delaware counties. This 224-page coffee table book will make a wonderful holiday gift for friends and family. “Delaware” will be available at a special price of $40. David Michael Smith is the author of “Stories from the Manger,” a collection of heartwarming Christmas stories, and “The Invitation,” a very suspense-filled story dealing with the Internet and the classic theme of good vs. evil. “Stories from the Manager” will be available for $10 and “The Invitation” will be available for $24. Plan to stop by the Library on Dec. 12 to visit with these authors.

Laurel parent meeting
The Laurel School District will hold a meeting for parents and the public on Dec. 10, at 7 p.m. in Carvel Room at North Laurel Elementary School to hear Robin Taylor from the Delaware Department of Education discuss and review the Delaware State Testing Program. This session will help explain the testing program, how DSTP affects promotion and retention, and the different types of diplomas. We encourage everyone to attend!
