'Sounds Like Christmas'
The Delmar Church of God of Prophecy will present the musical drama production "Sounds Like Christmas." Directed and produced by three-time National Crystal Communicator Award winners Ron, Deb and Wendy Craig, the production will premier Dec. 17-19, at 7:30 p.m., with free admission. This is no ordinary "church skit," complete with full set design, make up, costumes, lighting, singing and choreography. With a contemporary approach to the Christmas message, this group of new thespians reminds us all that "Big Things Do Come in Small packages." The host pastor of the church is Bishop Michael Phillips. The church is located on U.S. 13, three miles north of the Maryland-Delaware state line. Refreshments will be served following the performance.

Church of the Nazarene visitors
On Saturday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m., the Rev. Curtis Roberts and congregation from Mills Memorial Baptist Church, Salisbury, Md., will be the guests at the United Church of the Nazarene, 4718 Jackson St., Hurlock, Md. Gethsemane youth pageant
Youth presentation of "The Day God Became a Man," a Christmas pageant, on Sunday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m. at Gethsemane United Methodist Church, Reliance. Everyone is invited.

Union UMC Cantata
On Sunday, Dec. 19, Union United Methodist Church, Bridgeville, will have their "Christmas Cantata" at 7 p.m., "Heaven's Child." Dessert fellowship after the Cantata in Fellowship Hall.

Union Christmas communion
On Friday Dec. 24, Union United Methodist Church, Bridgeville, will have a Christmas silent communion from 6-6:30 p.m., followed by a candlelight service at 7 p.m.

Cantata, house tour in Bethel
There will be a cantata on Sunday, Dec. 12, at the Sailors Bethel United Methodist Church, followed by a tour of historic homes in the area. Tickets, purchased from the Bethel Historical Society, are $10 in advance or $15 on the day of the tour. Call early for reservations, 875-3971 or 875-0647.

St. John's 'Praise Dancers'
The youth department of St. John AME Zion Church, Ross Point, Laurel, will be celebrating Jesus in a "Battle of the Praise Dancers" on Friday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m. This is not competition but just a way young people from the surrounding areas will come together to express their love for Jesus in praise dances. All are welcome.

The annual Christmas program of the Atlanta Road Alliance Church in Seaford will be Sunday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m. Children in grades K-6 will present a program entitled, "A Christmas Window." The junior and senior high youth will present a drama entitled, "The Guest."

Christian musical drama
Greenwood and Todd's Chapel United Methodist churches will have a special service featuring Jim Hughes as he performs a Christian musical drama, "Amos" on Sunday, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m. at Greenwood United Methodist Church in Greenwood. The reporter, Amos, is recording the facts surrounding the great census in a little town of Bethlehem. Amos encounters a touching story of a baby in a stable. Hear the report as Amos chronicles the events of the birth of Jesus and follows him to the cross. A love offering will be taken at this service. Hughes will also perform in a musical mini drama at the Sunday morning services of Todd's Chapel and Greenwood United Methodist churches at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., respectively. All are welcome.

Alliance Church Cantata
The choir of the Atlanta Road Alliance Church, under the direction of Richard Trice, will present the Christmas Cantata, "Festival of Lights," on Friday, Dec. 17, at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m. The Atlanta Road Alliance Church Choir has earned the reputation as one of Southern Delaware's outstanding choral groups. The Atlanta Road Alliance Church is located at 22625 Atlanta Road, 1-1/2 miles north of the Nylon Capital Shopping Plaza, next to seaford Animal Hospital. Latin Mass December 19
A Latin mass according to the Missal of 1962 is celebrated on the third Sunday of every month at 3 p.m. at Holy Cross Church in Dover. The mass will be celebrated on Dec. 19. The mass is always a Missa Cantata using traditional Gregorian chant. For further information, call 302-674-5781.

Jerry Jones releases song
Seaford resident Jerry Jones made a return trip to Branson, Mo., on Dec. 2, to finalize arrangements for the release of his song "Calvary" to 1800 radio stations in the United States and in Europe. The song will also be released to Australian radio stations in December. In August, Jones was awarded "Male Vocalist of the Year" and "Songwriter of the Year" for the Eastern United States by the Country Gospel Music Association for 2004. His songs have been played on radio stations, and he has appeared live and his videos shown on the Gospel Music Television Network in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. He was also nominated for international male vocalist and songwriter of the year in Branson in October. Jones, who sings at churches and concerts will be releasing with Hope Street production in Branson. He serves as chairman of the Seaford Chapter of the Country Gospel Music Association. Jones and his wife Jeannie have resided in Seaford for the past 12 years. His third CD is in the process of being recorded and will be released in the near future. So far Jones has written 11 country gospel songs.

Trinity Pre-Youth Rally
Recently the youth of Trinity United Methodist Church in Laurel had a Prre-Youth Rally to the Youth Rally. More than 300 youth were in attendance praising to the sounds of "Watershed" and national recording artist "Duvall." The theme for the rally was SHINE -Share His Incredible News Everywhere. The youth heard a message entitled "Get Naked" by Woody Wilson, pastor of Trinity U.M.C., and co-founder of Hands On Compassion Ministries. The young people were encouraged to "Strip off their false images" and get real with God. More than 75 youth went forward making a commitment to God and to reflect His Son's love. The evening concluded with a corporate prayer for each other and the upcoming youth rally. Every youth in attendance received a "Go SHINE" bracelet worn as a covenant to pray for the more than 4,000 youth expected to attend the U.M.C. Peninsula Delaware Conference Youth Rally Jan. 5-7 in Ocean City.

Christmas Eve Service
Messiah's Vineyard Church will have a Christmas Eve service, at 6 p.m., on Dec. 24, with the Christmas story and communion in the atmosphere of candlelight. The Vineyard worship team will lead in the singing of Christmas carols. The church is located at Tyndall's Furniture Plaza on Discountland Road and U.S. 13 in Laurel. The senior minister is Dr. Carl G. Vincent and the music minister is Pastor Barry B. Dukes.
