Clubs, church will join forces
By Bill McCauley
The Bridgeville Lions Club and Lioness Club will join forces with Union United Methodist Church in providing Christmas food boxes and toys to the needy. Heretofore each has operated individually from its recipient list.
The Lions Club has traditionally given food boxes, made up of canned goods and fruit, such as apples, along with scrapple and chicken, some of it donated. The Lioness Club gives out toys, again some of them donated.
Both will continue, but in a joint operation with Union United Methodist Church, they will work from a combined list of names.
A recent Saturday saw a contingent of Lions conduct a highway clean-up along Route 404 from Town Hall to Dublin Hill. Favored by clear skies they collected numerous bags of trash.
On Dec. 16, Lions members and their wives will hold their annual Christmas party.
