Rotary award for community service goes to fireman Morris
The Nanticoke Rotary Club has recently awarded Delmar Volunteer Fire Department's John I. (Jack) Morris, Jr., its Community Service Award.
This is the fifth year that the award has been presented, according to Pat Bachelor, club spokesperson. The award is given to people who have gone above and beyond on the job and in the community, Bachelor said.
Morris has served in several capacities within the Fire Department, this year serving as First Assistant Chief. The award though was presented for his work on the Apparatus Planning Committee as chairman. That committee has recently completed work on a new half-million-dollar rescue truck, which will be in service in early December.
Jack Morris Jr. is the second of three generations of the Morris family to serve the community through the Delmar Fire Department.
